About the job:
Reporting to the Head of Performance Analytics, Japan, you will provide a clear, objective and actionable view of business performance to support decision making and drive sustainable growth across the Japan business.
Acting as a trusted analytics partner to Commercial, Brand, Finance and Leadership teams, you will lead business performance analysis, market intelligence, forecasting support, reporting governance and analytics capability development.
You will play a key role in turning data into actionable recommendations, identifying growth opportunities and business risks, and supporting strategic planning processes including Forecast, Budget, Brand Plans and Integrated Business Planning.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead monthly and ad-hoc performance analysis across brands, categories, channels and customers, monitoring sales, market share, competitive performance and category growth, and deliver integrated business reviews that surface opportunities, risks and emerging trends for commercial decision making.
- Monitor the consumer healthcare market and competitive landscape, conduct market sizing, category assessments and competitor analysis, and partner with Brand and Commercial teams to evaluate opportunities and inform portfolio and innovation planning.
- Support Forecast, Budget, Brand Planning and Integrated Business Planning through analytical modeling and scenario-based analysis, quantifying business risks and opportunities and assessing forecast accuracy.
- Own business performance reporting, ensuring consistent metrics and definitions and strong data quality across internal and external sources, and manage relationships with external data providers to resolve data quality issues.
- Build and maintain automated reporting and dashboard solutions, support the rollout of regional and global analytics tools, and promote a self-service analytics culture through new methods and technologies.
- Act as trusted analytics partner to the General Manager, Commercial, Brand, Finance and regional analytics teams, translating business questions into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
About you:
- Experience: 5+ years in Business Intelligence, Performance Analytics, Commercial Analytics or Strategic Planning, ideally within FMCG, Consumer Health, OTC, Consumer Goods or Retail, with a strong understanding of the Japan consumer and retail landscape and a track record of supporting commercial and strategic decisions through analytics.
- Skills: Advanced Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, data visualization, statistical analysis and business performance reporting; SQL, Python, forecasting techniques and AI-enabled analytics are a plus. Strong business acumen, analytical and critical thinking, a curious and challenger mindset, and excellent stakeholder management, communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Languages: English Business /Japanese fluent
