About the company
Our client is a venture-backed legal AI company building software that automates timekeeping, helps law firms recover billable work, and creates new forms of firm intelligence. Its products are used by hundreds of firms, and the company is hiring its first full-time designer to shape a critical product surface.
The role
We are hiring a Senior Product Designer to own product design from research through launch. This is an individual-contributor role for a designer who can make complex, data-heavy workflows clear and useful, develop novel AI user experiences, and bring strong points of view to product and engineering decisions.
What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end product design for complex software, including tables, dashboards, and data-heavy workflows.
- Research workflows directly with lawyers and administrative users, then translate findings into clear product opportunities.
- Design novel AI interactions that make complex work easier without sacrificing user control.
- Create systematic designs and interactive prototypes in Figma.
- Use AI tools such as Claude and Cursor to explore, refine, and accelerate product work.
- Partner with engineering on tradeoffs and ship polished work from idea through production.
- Help shape new product lines and product strategy while benefiting from mentorship by a senior design advisor.
What we're looking for
- 3 to 7 years of product-design experience on real software products.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong work on complex, data-heavy tables, dashboards, or workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to design thoughtful, novel AI user experiences.
- Expert Figma skills, including systematic design work and interactive prototyping.
- An opinionated, well-reasoned approach to user experience and product decisions.
- Strong collaboration skills and comfort working through engineering tradeoffs.
Bonus points
- Experience designing products for legal, administrative, or other complex professional workflows.
- Experience shaping a new product line or contributing to product strategy.
- Startup experience, ideally combined with experience at a larger technology company.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary of $210K to $270K.
- Equity of 0.25% to 0.75%.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- Paid lunch and dinner on Fridays.
Location and work model
- Five days per week in Tribeca, New York City, with occasional remote flexibility.
- Most days run from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
- Full-time position.
- Visa transfers are supported.
