Full description

Overall Purpose of the Role:

To design and help implement high-quality website experiences, landing pages, campaign pages and digital journeys that balance strong visual design with usability, responsiveness, performance and conversion. This role sits between design and web delivery: the successful candidate must understand how websites are built and be comfortable taking a page beyond the design stage - either by building and publishing pages directly within the website CMS/backend, or by working closely and confidently with web developers to ensure pages are implemented accurately and go live on time.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can move from brief to design to live implementation with minimal supervision. The person should understand the technical realities of web development, be able to troubleshoot common implementation issues, conduct staging and live-site QA, and ensure that the final page reflects the approved design and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver responsive website pages, campaign landing pages, product pages, promotional modules, banners and other web assets.
  • Translate campaign, product and business requirements into clear, intuitive and conversion-focused web experiences.
  • Create designs that account for desktop, tablet and mobile behaviour, responsive breakpoints, accessibility and technical constraints.
  • Where platform access and capability allow, build, configure, update and publish pages directly within the website CMS or backend using approved templates, components and modules.
  • Work confidently within page builders, content management systems and component-based website environments to make day-to-day content and layout updates.
  • Where development support is required, prepare implementation-ready designs and work closely with web developers to move pages from Figma/design files into staging and production.
  • Provide clear developer specifications covering layouts, breakpoints, spacing, component behaviour, interactions, imagery and asset requirements.
  • Understand and apply HTML and CSS principles sufficiently to make basic front-end changes, diagnose layout issues and communicate effectively with developers.
  • Conduct detailed visual, functional and responsive QA on staging and live pages, identifying and resolving discrepancies before launch.
  • Troubleshoot common website implementation issues and coordinate technical fixes with the development team where required.
  • Maintain and evolve website design systems, reusable components, templates and page patterns to improve consistency and speed of delivery.
  • Ensure brand consistency across website experiences while adapting creative appropriately for different products, campaigns and customer journeys.
  • Create and implement page or creative variants for A/B testing, optimisation and performance marketing requirements.
  • Work with analytics, marketing and performance teams to use customer behaviour and website performance data to improve page design and conversion.
  • Optimise imagery and design assets for web use, considering file size, loading speed, accessibility and page performance.
  • Manage multiple website requests, development dependencies and launch deadlines independently.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the design-to-development workflow, reduce handoff friction and shorten the time from brief to live page.

Experience Required:

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience in website design, digital design, UI design or a hybrid design/web implementation role.
  • Demonstrated experience taking website pages from design through staging, QA and live implementation.
  • Hands-on experience working in a CMS, page builder or website backend environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with front-end or web development teams and managing design-to development handoffs.
  • Experience designing responsive websites and working with reusable components or design systems.
  • Experience conducting visual and functional QA across desktop and mobile browsers.
  • Experience in fintech, banking, e-commerce, retail, digital product or another conversion-focused environment would be advantageous

Skills Required:

  • Excellent Figma capability, including components, auto layout, variants and developer-ready design files.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent creative tools.
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI, responsive design, accessibility and mobile-first design principles.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, with the ability to understand page structure, styling and common front-end issues.
  • Ability to work confidently in a CMS or website backend; experience with platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, Drupal, Adobe Experience Manager or similar is advantageous.
  • Understanding of component-based web design, design systems and reusable page modules.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, imagery, visual hierarchy and conversion-focused design.
  • Ability to prepare implementation-ready specifications and communicate technical design requirements clearly to developers.
  • Strong visual and functional QA skills across responsive breakpoints and common browsers/devices.
  • Basic understanding of website performance, image optimisation, accessibility, SEO considerations and analytics is advantageous.
  • Strong time management and ability to coordinate design and development dependencies across multiple briefs.

Competencies Required:

  • Strong execution focus - able to take ownership from brief through to a live website page, not stop at design handoff.
  • Independent working style and confidence operating with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • High attention to detail, particularly when reviewing live implementation against approved designs.
  • Technical curiosity and willingness to work inside website systems rather than treating development as a separate discipline.
  • Practical problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot implementation issues.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with developers, marketers, product teams and other stakeholders.
  • Customer and usability focus, with an understanding of how design decisions affect customer journeys and conversion.
  • Ability to balance creative ambition with technical feasibility, performance and delivery timelines.
  • Proactive ownership of deadlines, dependencies and launch readiness.
  • Adaptability and continuous-improvement mindset, including an interest in evolving web tools, CMS capabilities and front-end practices.
