Product Vision
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the KYC & AML squad — the team responsible for how Spendesk verifies, onboards, and continuously monitors the businesses and individuals who use the platform.
This role sits at the critical intersection of product, compliance, and financial infrastructure — where every decision has direct implications for regulatory adherence, customer activation, and operational efficiency. You will own the product strategy for two core domains: KYC (company onboarding, document submission, and representative verification) and AML (ongoing transaction monitoring, including a major TMS migration). Beyond your squad, you will act as Spendesk's internal compliance translator — helping other product teams embed regulatory thinking into their work before it becomes a problem.
As a PM in this role, you will turn compliance complexity into great product. You will translate regulatory requirements and operational pain points into clear inputs for engineering and design, enabling the team to build flows that work for customers and stand up to regulators. Once delivered, you will work closely with compliance, operations, and go-to-market teams to define the impact of your work, instrument the metrics that matter, and continuously raise the bar on onboarding quality.
What You'll Do
- Define and drive the KYC & AML product strategy, ensuring it ladders up to both business goals and regulatory obligations.
- Lead the rebuild of Spendesk's onboarding flow for individuals and companies — reducing time-to-activation, improving document completion rates, and eliminating manual rework.
- Act as Spendesk's internal compliance expert for product — helping other PMs understand regulatory constraints and embedding compliance-by-design across the product culture.
- Partner closely with the compliance team, KYC-OPS, and engineering to convert regulatory requirements into a single, prioritised backlog — replacing the current reactive, competing-P0 model.
- Define and track the product metrics that don't yet exist: time-to-activation, file completeness at KYC entry, cost per manual case, and straight-through processing rate.
- Support go-to-market teams with clear documentation and impactful product launches — particularly for onboarding improvements visible to Account Executives and new customers.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with identity verification, monitoring, and compliance infrastructure vendors.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of product management experience in fintech, payments, or regulated financial services.
- Working knowledge of KYC/AML regulatory frameworks — ideally including EU or UK regulations (PSD2, MiCA, or equivalent). You don't need to be a lawyer, but you need to have absorbed compliance deeply enough to act as a credible counterpart to a MLRO or compliance officer.
- Proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, prioritised product decisions — and to make those decisions land with engineers, designers, and business stakeholders who don't share your regulatory background.
- Experience owning or rebuilding onboarding or identity verification flows — with measurable outcomes (completion rate, activation time, drop-off reduction).
- Familiarity with financial infrastructure: payment providers, monitoring vendors, identity solutions. Experience managing a migration or integration at the infrastructure layer is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical mindset — you can instrument what doesn't yet exist, define the right metrics, and use data to drive prioritisation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — you can hold the room with compliance, ops, and engineering simultaneously, and translate between them without losing substance.
- Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable making difficult infrastructure and vendor decisions without a large team of experts behind you.
Why Join Us
- Own one of the most structurally important product domains at Spendesk — KYC & AML directly gates every new customer relationship.
- Solve problems that are genuinely hard: low document completion rates, manual reconciliation overhead, a TMS migration, and a US expansion that depends on what you build.
- Work in a domain where regulatory excellence and great product experience are not in opposition — your job is to prove they can coexist.
- Join a culture that values autonomy, trust, and shipping fast — while never losing sight of quality or compliance.
- Help Spendesk build the compliance infrastructure that will support its next phase of growth, including US expansion and multi-currency.
As we are an international team, please submit your application and CV in English.
