HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

In this role you'll:

  • Partner with stakeholders across Global Payment Solutions and lending to understand business needs and refine them into clear analytical requirements.
  • Translate business problems into well-defined analytical problem statements, solution approaches and measurable outcomes.
  • Analyse large and complex datasets using Python or SQL, producing clear, actionable insights and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Design and develop scalable analytics solutions, curated datasets and generic data assets that support reporting, insight and predictive analytics.
  • Present findings through effective storytelling, presentations and dashboards, explaining complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with visualisation, data engineering and technology colleagues to create robust data pipelines, dashboards and reusable solutions.
  • Support the UK data strategy by validating and ingesting new data assets, improving data quality and aligning solutions with governance, control and enterprise data-model standards.
  • Manage delivery to agreed timelines, scope and quality standards while identifying opportunities for self-directed work that creates measurable business value.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong hands-on programming skills in Python and/or SQL. These are essential requirements for the role.
  • Practical data-analysis experience, including solving complex business problems using large datasets.
  • Ability to translate business challenges into data and analytical problems, select suitable approaches and communicate actionable recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience of data modelling, relational databases and working with significant data volumes, with a strong understanding of big-data concepts and processing patterns.
  • Strong stakeholder-management, consulting and communication skills, including the ability to influence through evidence and present to mixed audiences.
  • Experience with data-visualisation platforms such as Looker or Data Studio is desirable, or a clear willingness and ability to learn these tools.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and services such as BigQuery, Dataproc or Cloud Composer is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and delivery skills, with curiosity, adaptability and the ability to work effectively across multiple priorities and teams.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
