The Role:
MDA Space IT organization is seeking a highly experienced Hybrid Infrastructure Solutions Architect to define, design, and govern secure, resilient, and high‑performance hybrid infrastructure platforms supporting MDA operations.
In this role, you will act as a senior technical authority responsible for architecting solutions that span on‑premises datacenters and approved public/private cloud platforms. You will work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and program teams to ensure infrastructure designs meet regulatory, security, and availability requirements while enabling modernization and long‑term scalability.
This role is critical to ensuring MDA Space can safely evolve its infrastructure capabilities while protecting sensitive data, maintaining operational continuity, and supporting long‑lifecycle MDA programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define enterprise-wide hybrid cloud strategy and reference architectures
- Drive standardization and architectural governance across global environments
- Influence executive-level technology decisions and investment planning
- Act as design authority for infrastructure architecture decisions
- Chair architecture governance boards and review committees
- Design and maintain end‑to‑end hybrid infrastructure architectures (on‑prem, private cloud, public cloud)
- Establish standards for compute, storage, and networking that apply consistently across cloud and on-prem footprints
- Drive automation of provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management
- Define and enforce policies for cost management, tagging, access control, and compliance
- Lead predictive capacity planning using telemetry and forecasting models
- Define operational readiness standards and ensure designs are supportable and automatable
- Partner with business stakeholders to align infrastructure roadmap with company objectives
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and vendors
- Embed Zero Trust architecture principles and security-by-design practices
- Define Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards and integrate infrastructure delivery with CI/CD pipelines
- Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Define monitoring, logging, and observability standards across hybrid platforms
- Mentor senior and intermediate IT members
- Provide technical leadership to engineering and operations teams
- Support budgeting and vendor strategy decisions
- Lead architecture reviews and design forums
- Influence cross-functional teams and drive architectural decisions without direct authority
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Job Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or architecture roles, with at least 5 years in a hybrid or multi-cloud environment
- Deep hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Hands-on experience with on-premises infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, bare metal, HCI)
- Hands-on experience with Azure/AWS landing zones, governance frameworks
- Experience with hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN)
- Hands-on experience with automation using PowerShell, Python, Terraform
- Experience working in regulated environments (ITAR, Controlled Goods, GDPR, etc.)
- Understanding of data residency and sovereignty requirements
- Strong background in networking - SD-WAN, DNS, load balancing, firewall policy
- Experience in Active Directory, Entra ID, IAM, SSO/SAML/OIDC
- Experience in Enterprise Storage solutions
- Experience in architecting and documenting Disaster Recover and Business Continuity
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems and their core services.
- Proven experience designing production-grade Kubernetes platforms (AKS/EKS/Hybrid)
- Strong presentation skills to explain architecture decisions to executive and non-technical audiences
- Strong written communication - able to produce clear architecture documents and runbooks
Nice to have:
- Relevant certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Experience with Zero Trust / Conditional Access architectures
- Experience with Backup & DR tools (Commvault, Veeam, Azure Site Recovery)
- Experience with cloud cost governance
Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the Secret status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.
