Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Manager / Professional Engineer (PE) to join our growing Florida team in our Jacksonville office.

This leadership role is responsible for managing and delivering municipal, public works, and transportation projects while serving as a trusted advisor to clients, developing new business opportunities, and mentoring engineering staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, proven project management experience, established client relationships within Florida municipalities, and a passion for developing high-performing teams. This individual will play a key role in expanding our presence throughout the Florida market while helping communities address critical infrastructure needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Serve as Project Manager for a variety of municipal, public works, and transportation projects.
  • Lead projects through planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction phases.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, subconsultants, and client stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure successful delivery of client objectives.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, studies, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal clients, public agencies, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to support client goals and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients.

Business Development

  • Support and lead business development initiatives throughout Florida.
  • Develop and execute client engagement strategies.
  • Identify upcoming opportunities and actively participate in project pursuits.
  • Lead proposal development, scope preparation, fee negotiations, and client presentations.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and professional association meetings.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to support strategic growth objectives.

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Mentor, coach, and support professional growth of engineers and technical staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality oversight for project teams.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and staff retention efforts.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and client-focused culture.
  • Assist in developing future project managers and technical leaders within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in municipal, public works, transportation, or civil infrastructure engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and client expectations.
  • Strong understanding of Florida municipal, county, and state agency processes and requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Existing relationships with Florida municipalities, counties, transportation agencies, or utility providers.
  • Business development and pursuit management experience.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • FDOT project experience.
  • Construction administration and construction engineering inspection experience.
  • Familiarity with alternative project delivery methods.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as ASCE, APWA, ACEC, or ITE.
