Ruan is now hiring an IT Business Analyst Intern for Summer 2027.
This is a full-time position that will work a mix of on-site at our downtown Des Moines campus and remote.
The purpose of the internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a career in IT, business, supply chain, or applicable division. Interns may be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the transportation business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.
The IT Business Analyst Intern will have exposure to Ruan's Technology and business needs by working on smaller projects, helping with requests to send to development, troubleshooting issues.
Other duties include:
- Support production users by resolving business problems for internal and external customers by utilizing problem solving and analytical skills. Quick decision making to implement necessary changes.
- Configure and maintain transportation software and integrated software to support end users. Implement proposed system changes.
- Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed business systems and processes to identify and implement improvements and opportunities to meet business unit objectives in smaller, less complex processes.
- Create user stories/use cases, process & Data flows and scenarios in order to clearly communicate a set of functional requirements. Provide input and support the development of business and functional specifications. Document to ensure business requirements are adequately reflected in development documents.
- Communicate with software architects and developers utilizing technical background.

• Skills required in the following areas:
- Individual must demonstrate analytical and problem solving abilities. Must have good communication, written and oral, skills. Must have the ability to communicate ideas to others. Must be able to communicate analytical and process information to non-analytical staff.
- Requires good customer service and relationship building. Must have the ability to multi-task under time constraints and set priorities and accomplish duties with little direct supervision.
• Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
