Accountabilities:

  • Lead and develop engineering talent: Manage software engineers and technical leads through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, constructive feedback, recognition, career development planning, coaching, and appropriate performance management processes.
  • Build team capabilities and leadership depth: Assess workforce capacity, critical skills, succession risks, and staffing needs. Develop targeted training, mentoring, hiring, onboarding, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen team resilience and prepare future technical and people leaders.
  • Ensure sustainable delivery: Establish clear roles, responsibilities, decision-making processes, and organizational support. Collaborate with technical leads and project managers to address delivery risks, dependencies, workload imbalances, recurring delays, quality concerns, and resource constraints without assuming ownership of their respective responsibilities.
  • Bridge software engineering and AEC workflows: Apply practical knowledge of Autodesk Revit, BIM, mechanical and electrical design, commissioning, and project delivery to help software teams understand user needs, model structures, parameters, families, standards, and discipline-specific requirements.
  • Develop specialized engineering tools expertise: Guide workforce planning and capability development across C#/.NET, Revit add-ins and APIs, Blazor applications, integrations, installers, deployment services, licensing, testing, diagnostics, and production support.
  • Support product readiness and adoption: Partner with technical, product, quality, project management, and support teams to prepare releases, improve compatibility, strengthen documentation and training, and ensure effective deployment, licensing, installation, and user support. Help prepare selected internal tools for use by affiliates, contractors, clients, or broader external audiences.
  • Foster a healthy and accountable team culture: Encourage transparent communication, constructive technical debate, early risk escalation, and collaborative problem-solving. Address conflicts, sustained workload pressures, knowledge bottlenecks, and performance concerns through appropriate management practices.
  • Lead hiring and onboarding: Collaborate with department leadership to define workforce needs, establish structured interview processes, evaluate candidates fairly, and deliver consistent onboarding with clear expectations, learning objectives, and regular progress reviews.
  • Strengthen management systems and organizational effectiveness: Improve performance management, career frameworks, workforce planning, leadership continuity, and team operating practices. Contribute to department-level planning, organizational development, cross-team collaboration, and evidence-based recommendations for improving team performance and sustainability.
  • Maintain clear leadership boundaries: Partner effectively with technical leads, architects, product owners, business analysts, and project managers while respecting their respective ownership of technical execution, architecture, product priorities, requirements, and project delivery.

Requirements:

  • Professional experience: At least 8 years of professional software engineering or closely related technical delivery experience, including a minimum of 2 years in formal people management within a software organization.
  • AEC and Revit expertise: Meaningful professional experience with Autodesk Revit and the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, BIM, design technology, engineering design, construction technology, or commissioning workflows. A practical understanding of how Revit-dependent tools affect real-world project delivery is essential.
  • People management: Demonstrated experience leading software engineers and technical leaders, managing performance and development, delivering difficult feedback, conducting reviews, recognizing contributions, and addressing ongoing performance concerns.
  • Workforce and talent development: Experience in workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, skill-gap analysis, retention, succession planning, and staffing recommendations for specialized engineering teams.
  • Software engineering knowledge: Sufficient technical depth to assess C#/.NET and web application architecture, APIs, data management, identity and security, testing, CI/CD, observability, dependencies, delivery risks, and production support without taking over implementation responsibilities.
  • Deployment and product lifecycle experience: Familiarity with software deployment, installers, licensing, version compatibility, documentation, training, technical support, quality assurance, and productization.
  • Communication and collaboration: Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, coaching, facilitation, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across engineering, BIM, mechanical and electrical design, commissioning, product, quality, project delivery, and leadership teams.
  • Remote team leadership: Experience managing distributed teams and improving communication, onboarding, operating practices, knowledge continuity, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent professional experience is also relevant.
