A well-established Helsinki-based game studio with a strong track record of shipping and maintaining globally successful titles is looking for a Lead Developer to own the technical vision of a live, long-running mobile game with a passionate global player base.
This is not a greenfield project — it’s a mature, complex codebase that needs a seasoned engineer who can keep it healthy, push it forward, and elevate the team around them.
What you’ll do
- Own the technical and architectural direction of the game with hands-on involvement
- Lead technical discovery and evaluation for new features and internal tools
- Act as the unifying tech voice across cross-functional teams
- Collaborate closely with external partners and platform/data/security teams
- Continuously improve tools, processes, and codebase quality
Please Note
- Must already have the right to work in Finland (EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship or valid permit) — visa sponsorship is not available
- Hybrid role: minimum 3 days/week in Helsinki office
Requirements
- Proven experience as a technical lead in live, free-to-play mobile games
- Strong C++ background across the full game development lifecycle
- Skilled in profiling, debugging, and performance optimization
- Experience with multi-platform development (iOS, Android; PC/Mac/Web a bonus)
- Comfortable with CI/CD, branching strategies, rollouts, and incident management
- Strong communicator who works well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
