Network EngineerCooley (UK) LLP are seeking a Network Engineer to join the team.

Position summary: As part of the Network Services and Engineering team, the Network Engineer is responsible for support and maintenance of the firm’s enterprise network infrastructure. This position, with minimum supervision, will have a thorough understanding of firm technologies and systems as well as be able to understand both the business and technical requirements for new products that will be engineered and implemented by the group. This position works very closely with the team to manage and troubleshoot complex network infrastructure.  Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Day to day technical support of network infrastructure at the Firm’s datacenters and at firm office premises, ensuring a high level of efficiency in problem resolution and uptime
  • Monitor network performance and integrity; analyse trends and SLAs.
  • Troubleshoot/issue management of firm network infrastructure.
  • Perform network maintenance, upgrades and refreshes
  • Manage and support user remote access
  • Perform wireless surveys, analyse results and remediation
  • Develop and maintain system documentation
  • Participate in change, problem, incident and request management
  • Lead complex technical projects from design through implementation
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley (UK) LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • Applicable  experience in the field and performing exempt-level duties
  • Exhibit analytical and critical thinking in day-to-day tasks
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and support complex LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco or equivalent enterprise networking platforms, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, and EtherChannel.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), VPNs, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with enterprise Wi-Fi design and troubleshooting (Aruba, Cisco, or similar), including authentication (802.1X, RADIUS).

Preferred:

  • Educated at degree level or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field
  • Hands-on experience deploying or supporting SD-WAN solutions (Cisco, Prisma, Meraki, etc.)
  • Familiarity with tools such as SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, LogicMonitor, or equivalent, and scripting/automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform) for network management.
  • Hands-on experience with Aruba ClearPass or Cisco ISE for RADIUS/TACACS, 802.1X authentication, device profiling, and policy enforcement.
  • Understanding of cloud network integrations (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including VPNs, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, and VNet/VPC routing.
  • Understanding of VXLAN, EVPN, and related fabric designs (Cisco Nexus / ACI environments). Experience with Cisco Nexus Dashboard, NDFC, or equivalent fabric management platforms.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining Secure Client VPN solutions such as, GlobalProtect / Cisco AnyConnect, including policy, authentication, and client troubleshooting.
