Leapswitch Networks is seeking a skilled and proactive L2/L3 Network Engineer to design, implement, troubleshoot, and manage a highly available and secure network infrastructure spanning multiple technologies and vendors across colocated datacenter environments.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive L2/L3 Network Engineer with strong hands-on experience in routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and advanced redundancy protocols. The ideal candidate will be responsible for network operations, troubleshooting, implementation, optimization, and maintaining high availability across the network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
1. ConfigureConfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise networks using Cisco and FortiGate equipment.
- Perform network configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting across colocated datacenter environments.
2. Layer 2 / Layer 3 design & troubleshooting
- Handle design, implementation, and troubleshooting of STP, RSTP, VTP, VLANs, HSRP, and VRRP.
- Troubleshoot complex L2/L3 connectivity and performance issues.
3. BGP, OSPF & routing governance
- Manage BGP sessions on ASR, route-maps, route-policies, and AS-path policies.
- Configure and troubleshoot OSPF and failover routing strategies.
- Ensure stable and optimized routing across the network infrastructure.
4. VPN solutions & remote access
- Implement and manage VPN solutions including Site-to-Site, SSL, and IPSec.
- Manage remote access policies and troubleshoot VPN connectivity issues.
5. High availability — MLAG, VPC, Port-Channel
- Configure and maintain high-availability network infrastructure using MLAG, VPC, and Port-Channel technologies.
- Troubleshoot redundancy and failover-related issues.
6. Firewalls, ACLs & FortiGate UTM
- Configure and maintain firewalls and ACLs for network security and segmentation.
- Work with advanced FortiGate UTM features.
- Troubleshoot firewall policies, traffic flow, and security-related network issues.
7. Vendor & cross-team collaboration
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for network upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, and major incident resolution.
- Manage vendor support and coordinate resolution of infrastructure-related issues.
8. Root cause analysis & optimization
- Perform RCA for recurring and critical network issues.
- Identify opportunities for network optimization, performance improvement, and infrastructure upgrades.
9. Documentation & topology upkeep
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of network topologies, configurations, and SOPs.
- Ensure network changes and configurations are properly documented.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on enterprise networking experience.
- Strong command of L2/L3 protocols and enterprise networking standards.
- Proven expertise with Cisco IOS / NX-OS and FortiOS.
- Deep hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF, VPN, STP, VTP, and VLAN planning.
- Solid grounding in MLAG, VPC, and high-availability network designs.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex routing / firewall troubleshooting and major incident resolution.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (Observium, NetFlow, SNMP).
- CCNP / CCIE and/or NSE certification preferred (CCIE or NSE4+ strongly preferred for this level).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Must Have
- Exposure to datacenter interconnect, VXLAN, EVPN, or SD-WAN.
- Experience with automation using Python or Ansible for network tasks.
- Experience managing vendor SLAs and contract-based network support.
