Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager to lead sewer and water main design supporting NYCDOT and NYCDDC infrastructure projects. This role requires a versatile civil engineer with extensive experience delivering complex NYCDEP sewer and water main design in support of large-scale transportation and infrastructure improvements.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of sewer and water main infrastructure supporting road and highway projects, including sewer and water main alignment, hydraulic analysis, chamber and manifold design, drainage and dewatering system, utility conflict analysis and coordination, construction staging, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT).  The engineering manager will also serve as the key technical liaison among civil, structural, and geotechnical disciplines to ensure integrated and constructible design solutions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in NYCDEP sewer and water main design, demonstrated leadership experience, strong technical and communication skill, and the ability to support a broad range of civil engineering design assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sewer and water main design tasks, from feasibility studies and preliminary design through final design and construction support.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight to civil engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Direct the preparation and review of engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Lead the design and coordination of sewer and water main alignment, chambers, manifolds, drainage and dewatering, utility impacts, construction staging, and MPT for NYCDDC/NYCDOT projects.
  • Coordinate closely with roadway, structural, geotechnical, and other technical disciplines to develop integrated and constructible design solutions.
  • Support project delivery by identifying design risks, resolving technical issues, and coordinating with clients, agencies, contractors, and utility owners.
  • Ensure compliance with NYCDEP, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, and other applicable agency standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Provide professional engineering seal and signature when required by contract.
  • Support business development, including the preparation of technical approaches, scope of work, and fee proposals for sewer and water main assignments.
  • Contribute to roadway and site design tasks and other civil engineering efforts as needed.
  • Assist other administrative and technical duties associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of related work experience in civil and transportation infrastructure projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required
  • Extensive experience in NYCDEP sewer and water main design
  • Experience with NYCDOT and NYCDDC projects preferred
  • Strong knowledge with NYC agency standards, specifications, design procedures, and approval processes.

Salary Range: $134,100.00 - $241,400.00
