Great American Risk Solutions (GARS) is a growing wholesale excess & surplus (E&S) insurance business focused on complex and specialized commercial risks. As a dynamic and expanding business, GARS combines the entrepreneurial spirit of a growth-oriented organization with the stability and resources of Great American Insurance Group. The GARS Analytics Team develops reporting and analytics that enable better decision-making across a complex and evolving commercial portfolio. We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to serve as a technical leader and strategic partner driving analytics delivery, advancing our use of modern tools, and helping scale our capabilities as demand continues to grow.
This role emphasizes advanced SQL-based analytics in Snowflake, ownership of core reporting domains, and thoughtful adoption of new tools and methodologies. The ideal candidate combines technical depth with strong business judgment and a continuous-learning mindset.

To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on‑site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets large volumes of complex data from diverse sources to drive strategic business initiatives
- Ensures data integrity and accuracy through rigorous validation, reconciliation, and business-focused quality checks.
- Partners with stakeholders across the business to frame complex questions, clarify reporting requirements, uncover insights, and deliver solutions that support data-driven action.
- Presents findings and strategic recommendations to management and other business stakeholders in a clear, impactful manner.
- Partners with IT Data Mart teams to align business logic, data definitions, and reporting usage with enterprise data models, standards, and production implementations.
- Responsibly uses AI-assisted analytics and coding tools to improve delivery speed and quality while applying appropriate validation, governance, and professional judgment.
- Designs and maintains semantic models, business logic, and metric definitions that enable trusted reporting, analytics, and emerging AI-assisted BI capabilities.
- Identifies and implements process improvements that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Maintains documentation for data processes, workflows, reporting standards, and definitions to support governance and reuse.
- Provides technical guidance and supports peer development to analysts through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and problem solving.
- Maintains knowledge of analytics best practices and emerging trends and applies relevant methods to the team’s work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s degree or professional license/certification a plus.
Field of Study: Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related quantitative or technology discipline preferred.
Experience: Seven or more years of experience in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or a related field. Previous experience in insurance or financial services a plus.
Scope of Job/Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
- Strong experience developing business intelligence solutions using Tableau, Power BI, or comparable platforms; Tableau experience preferred.
- Experience using Python or other scripting languages for analytics, automation, or data exploration.
- Working knowledge of cloud based analytics platforms; Snowflake experience preferred.
- Knowledge of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Performs work under limited supervision and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders to frame ambiguous problems, interpret data within business context, and influence decisions.
- Demonstrated interest in learning new tools, techniques, and analytics best practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments a plus
