Become a Strategic Delivery Project Manager
Working hand in hand with teams across the organisation, you'll bring people together around shared goals, helping to coordinate strategic initiatives, projects and business priorities that support our strategy and drive positive change.
This role acts as the central point of project oversight and coordination across a portfolio of strategic initiatives, ensuring projects remain aligned to business objectives, delivery commitments and business priorities. The Strategic Delivery Project Manager works closely with project sponsors, subject matter experts (SMEs), business leaders and project leads to support successful delivery, manage interdependencies, identify risks, and maintain momentum across the wider transformation agenda.
The role champions a transformation mindset, promotes effective project governance, and supports the embedding of sustainable change into business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
Your Mission
Strategic Delivery & Coordination
- Coordinate and maintain delivery plans across multiple strategic initiatives.
- Support project sponsors, SMEs and project managers in delivering agreed outcomes within defined timescales.
- Ensure projects remain aligned to organisational strategic priorities and business objectives.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to manage dependencies, priorities and resource requirements.
- Track key milestones, deliverables and dependencies across strategic projects and business initiatives.
- Identify, monitor and proactively escalate risks, issues and dependencies that may impact successful delivery.
- Support the successful adoption and embedding of change into BAU operations.
- Lead lessons-learned activities and promote continuous improvement across projects and initiatives.
- Support project governance, prioritisation and reporting activities, ensuring stakeholders have clear visibility of progress, risks and opportunities.
Governance & Reporting
- Produce clear, concise reporting and dashboards for senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Monitor project outcomes and support teams in measuring the value delivered.
- Work closely with our finance team to support financial tracking, delivery reporting and progress reviews where required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date reporting across strategic projects and business initiative
- Ensure agreed delivery and governance processes are consistently applied across projects.
Strategic Alignment & Business Value
- Ensure strategic initiatives have clear objectives, success measures and strategic alignment.
- Monitor and report on benefits realisation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support business leaders in evaluating delivery options, priorities and potential trade-offs.
- Help ensure investments deliver measurable business value and sustainable outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influencing
- Build strong relationships with project sponsors, SMEs, project managers and senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across business and technical teams.
- Influence stakeholders at all levels to remove barriers, resolve issues and maintain delivery momentum.
- Provide guidance and support to teams on project delivery best practice.
- Act as a trusted partner across the business, helping turn strategic priorities into successful outcomes.
Change & Continuous Improvement
- Champion a positive change culture that encourages innovation, collaboration and accountability.
- Support adoption of new processes, systems and ways of working.
- Promote continuous improvement across project delivery methodologies, governance and reporting.
- Share best practice and lessons learned to strengthen organisational capability.
- Encourage a delivery-focused mindset that balances pace, quality and business value.
Skills/Behaviours That Will Set You Apart
- Proven experience coordinating projects and business initiatives, bringing together multiple teams and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Delivery of complex cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- Brilliant organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior leaders.
- Commercial and strategic awareness, with the ability to connect project activity to wider business goals.
- Experience managing risks, issues, dependencies and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Analytical skills with a data-driven approach to reporting and decision-making.
- Experience using project management tools such as Monday.com, MS Project or similar.
- Understanding of project governance, project delivery and change management principles.
- Knowledge of change management methodologies and supporting organisational change.
- Experience within a retail or multi-site environment desirable.
- Experience supporting large-scale business change, transformation initiatives or strategic projects advantageous.
- Relevant certifications such as APM, PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or equivalent are desirable.
