ABOUT US
Our mission at Avelios is to unlock clinical data to power seamless healthcare operations for better patient care. To do so, we have built a modular software platform that digitizes and optimizes workflows in hospitals with cutting-edge technology in a user-friendly way. With our software, we enable hospitals, doctors & nurses to provide their patients with the best possible care. We are growing fast and want to keep expanding our team and business to fundamentally digitize healthcare for the better. We appreciate different backgrounds and see diversity as one of our strengths.
THE TEAM AND ROLE
As a Product Manager Pharmacy (all genders), you will bring your hands-on pharmaceutical expertise into the development of our AI-native Avelios Hospital Information System (HIS).
As part of our Product Management team, you will work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Product Design, Quality Assurance, customers, and clinical users to translate real-world medication processes into intuitive, scalable software solutions.
You understand how the medication cycle works in everyday hospital practice — from admission medication reconciliation and prescribing to pharmacist validation, dispensing and ward logistics, preparation, administration and documentation, through to discharge medication. You help ensure that these workflows, and the pharmaceutical data and decision support behind them, are accurately reflected in our product.
This is a highly collaborative role where pharmaceutical expertise meets digital product development, enabling you to shape the future of medication software in hospitals.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze pharmaceutical and clinical medication workflows and translate them into functional requirements for our Hospital Information System and act as the pharmaceutical export within cross-functional product teams
- Evaluate and prioritize product ideas from a pharmaceutical perspective, collaborating closely with hospital pharmacists, physicians, nursing users and clinic partners to validate concepts and ensure practical usability
- Drive the end-to-end the development process of product features for prescribing, pharmacist validation, dispensing, administration documentation, and pharmacy-specific workflows: from creating user stories, functional concepts, acceptance criteria, and specifications that enable Engineering, Product Design, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions
- Own drug master data as a product domain (catalogue integration, maintenance and how external sources are modelled) and turn that foundation into CDS logic for medication management, serving as the key contact for our CDS/AMTS partner vendors
- Take ownership of substitution and reconciliation logic — aut idem, aut simile, formulary and house-list exchange, strength and form conversion — including requirements, test cases and acceptance
- Review developed features through testing, product reviews, and acceptance processes to ensure they accurately reflect real clinical practice
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed degree in Pharmacy (Approbation as pharmacist), Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a comparable field
- Several years of practical experience in a hospital pharmacy or clinical pharmacy setting, ideally including ward-based work
- Strong understanding of medication processes in hospitals, medication safety (AMTS), and the relevant regulatory and quality assurance framework
- Experience with national and international pharmaceutical master data and drug information sources (e.g. MMI, ABDATA, Vidal, Apoverlag, FDB) is a plus
- Familiarity with clinical decision support and medication safety checks, and an appreciation of how to balance clinical value with everyday usability
- Ideally, experience working with HIS, pharmacy systems, closed-loop medication administration, or comparable clinical software
- Analytical thinking and ability to translate complex pharmaceutical requirements into structured, understandable concepts for interdisciplinary product teams
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with Design, Engineering, QA, Project Management and clinical stakeholders
- Business fluency (written and verbal) in German and English
- Experience in product management or in a similar field is a plus
YOUR BENEFITS
- Variety in your tasks and the opportunity to take ownership
- An international, informal team structure in a motivating start-up atmosphere, allowing you to participate directly in our customer growth story and the overall success of Avelios
- Ability to gain valuable hands-on experience in a startup backed by leading international VCs
- Support for your personal development through continuous learning and feedback
- Set your own rhythm with flexible working hours and trust-based time tracking
- A virtual stock option package (VSOP) that lets you participate in Avelios’ long-term value creation
