Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a Calypso Java Developer with 5+ years of total IT experience and strong hands-on expertise in Java development, Calypso APIs, and Calypso platform customizations. The role requires experience with Calypso v16 or above and expertise in at least one asset class, with a primary focus on Commodities.

The position is responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting Calypso-based back-office applications that enable effective trade capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, and related operational processes. The role contributes to business objectives by delivering reliable technology solutions, improving trade-processing workflows, resolving production issues, and supporting operations and trade-support users. Shift timing: 12:00 PM–9:00 PM

Software Requirements

Required Software Skills

  • Java: Minimum 5 years of professional development experience.
  • Calypso APIs: Demonstrable hands-on experience developing and enhancing Calypso solutions using Java and Calypso APIs.
  • Calypso: Experience with version 16 or above.
  • Calypso asset class expertise: Proven experience with the Commodities asset class; experience in another asset class group such as Fixed Income, FX, or Commodities may also be relevant where supported by project requirements.
  • Calypso customizations: Experience developing and maintaining Scheduled Tasks, Reports, and Engines.
  • Calypso message and sender frameworks: Good understanding of their configuration, implementation, and support.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Develop new features and enhancements for desks and operations users using Java and Calypso APIs.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain back-office applications on the Calypso platform to support commodity trading operations.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into maintainable technical solutions that improve trade processing and settlement.
  • Implement and maintain workflows for trade capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, and payment notice processing.
  • Design and maintain Calypso customizations, including Scheduled Tasks, Reports, and Engines.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Develop, enhance, test, and troubleshoot Calypso back-office applications, customizations, workflows, Scheduled Tasks, Reports, and Engines using Java and Calypso APIs.
  • Participate in planning sessions, requirement discussions, work estimation, technical reviews, and collaboration with operations, trade-support, development, and testing teams.
  • Deliver tested enhancements and support outcomes for trade capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, and payment notice processes.
  • Investigate production issues, provide L2 support, make technical decisions within assigned scope, and escalate risks or dependencies that may affect delivery or operational continuity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of total IT experience, including at least 5 years of Java development experience.
  • Relevant experience with Calypso v16 or above, Calypso APIs, Commodities or another asset class group, and Calypso customizations.
  • Calypso, Java, cloud, or related technical certifications are preferred but are not specified as mandatory.
  • Maintain continuous professional development in Calypso capabilities, Java development, trading processes, cloud technologies, monitoring, automation, and secure software practices.
