About NewtonX

NewtonX is a B2B insights company trusted by the world's most innovative companies to make high-stakes decisions with confidence. We combine a verified network of business professionals with AI-powered research tools to deliver research intelligence faster, more precise, and more defensible than traditional methods.

Our clients include Google, Microsoft, TikTok, DoorDash, Stripe, and Coinbase. Our research has been cited by Fortune, Forbes, TechCrunch, Adweek, and the Wall Street Journal.

NewtonX has raised $47M from investors including Two Sigma Ventures, Third Prime, XFund, and Citi Ventures.

The Role

As part of NewtonX's growing Medellín engineering hub, you'll design and build the fault-tolerant, modular systems that power our research platform — sophisticated APIs, large-scale queueing and streaming systems, and data processing pipelines. You'll work on a small, fast-growing engineering team (under 40 engineers) where individual contributors get in early and help shape the direction of our technology.

This role partners closely with US-based engineering leadership and cross-functional teams. Fluency and confidence in English, written and verbal, is essential — you'll participate in technical reviews, planning, and design discussions with colleagues across time zones.

What You'll Own

Engineering & Delivery

  • Design and develop modular, reusable, production-grade applications.
  • Build horizontally scalable software, including RESTful APIs and performant background jobs that consume queues.
  • Contribute to solution design and participate actively in code review with other engineers.
  • Perform debugging, resolve tech debt, and drive continuous code quality improvement.
  • Uphold engineering standards across code review, testing, documentation, and CI/CD hygiene.

Technical Contribution & Growth

  • Help evaluate and influence the adoption of new technologies, languages, tools, and frameworks.
  • Weigh in on architectural decisions with an eye toward scalability and maintainability.
  • Pair program and mentor junior engineers as part of a growing local team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Data, and US-based Engineering leadership on priorities and platform direction.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively across time zones, bridging any gaps between the Medellín and US teams.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and translate business priorities into well-scoped engineering work.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 3–4 years minimum experience as a software engineer, with strong Python experience across multiple projects (tech stack: Python, Django, Django Rest Framework).
  • Hands-on experience developing web applications, including REST APIs.
  • Experience building asynchronous job-processing applications (e.g., Dataflow or similar).
  • Strong SQL experience with a common relational database.
  • Comfortable working with horizontally scalable systems (e.g., Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, or EC2 behind a load balancer).
  • Excellent English proficiency — clear, confident communication in writing and in cross-functional meetings with US-based leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree or greater.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Familiarity with Terraform, Cloudflare, or infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience tuning PostgreSQL performance.
  • Full Stack Experience (Ideally in React)

Why Join NewtonX

  • Frontier B2B AI: Work on infrastructure powering the most sophisticated research and decision-making workflows in the world.
  • High ownership from day one: Get in early on a growing regional team with real influence over technical decisions.
  • Exceptional traction: Strong product-market fit with the world's largest investment banks, hedge funds, and consulting firms.
  • World-class team: Work alongside smart, driven people who are passionate about their craft.
  • Growth opportunity: Join during a hypergrowth phase, with a clear path to greater scope as the Colombia team scales.

What We Offer

  • Full Time contract according to Colombian legislation (Not a contractor position)
  • Competitive compensation and equity aligned to the Medellín market.
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous paid time off, holidays, and parental leave.
  • A diverse, collaborative, and positive culture where we invest in and celebrate each other's success.
  • Flexible work environment where we work hard but have fun (happy hours, team projects, and global retreats).
