Software Engineer, Data and Java

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Data and Java based in Brazil.

This is a fully remote opportunity for a senior-level Software Engineer combining strong Java development expertise with experience building data-driven systems. You will develop and maintain scalable backend services, data-processing components, integrations, and enterprise applications. The role involves designing solutions for data ingestion and transformation while ensuring reliable communication between systems and services. You will work closely with engineering and business stakeholders across the software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing and production support. Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills will be important for maintaining high-volume, dependable systems. You will also contribute to engineering best practices, documentation, code quality, and continuous improvement within an Agile environment.

Accountabilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based backend services and data-processing components.

• Build scalable solutions for data ingestion, transformation, processing, and system integration.

• Design and implement reliable backend and data services that support enterprise applications and high-volume workloads.

• Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.

• Contribute to system architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations.

• Improve the performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability of application and data services.

• Troubleshoot and resolve defects, production incidents, and technical issues across both application and data layers.

• Work with data platform technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and other large-scale data processing tools.

• Support cloud-based infrastructure, CI/CD workflows, and data pipeline operations.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to clean coding standards, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.

• Apply appropriate security practices and contribute to systems aligned with relevant ISO, SOC, or similar security standards.

• Ramp up quickly on existing systems, technologies, and processes while maintaining a strong focus on delivery and quality.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in backend and data-focused environments.

• Strong hands-on Java development skills and experience building production-grade backend services.

• Experience working with data-oriented systems, ETL processes, data processing workflows, or backend data services.

• Solid understanding of APIs, databases, distributed application architecture, and system integration.

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, or other large-scale data platform and processing technologies.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD practices, and data pipeline operations.

• Experience supporting high-volume or enterprise-scale applications and services.

• Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work effectively within collaborative Agile engineering teams and cross-functional environments.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Ability to quickly understand existing systems and begin contributing effectively.

• Strong delivery focus, attention to quality, and ownership of application and data engineering work.

• Knowledge of IT security best practices, including standards and controls aligned with ISO, SOC, or comparable frameworks.
