Network Engineer — Lead
Leapswitch Networks is seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage a highly available, secure network infrastructure spanning multiple technologies and vendors — across colocated datacenter environments.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage a highly available and secure network infrastructure spanning multiple technologies and vendors. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and advanced redundancy protocols.
Team Leadership & Ownership
1 Lead & mentor the network team
Manage day-to-day work of the network support team — task allocation, shift / on-call planning, and performance reviews.
2 Primary escalation point
Act as the go-to escalation point for critical incidents, major outages, and complex troubleshooting scenarios.
3 Define & enforce standards
Establish SOPs, change-management processes, and network standards across the team for consistent operations.
4 Upskill the team
Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and technical upskilling for junior and mid-level engineers.
5 Report to senior management
Liaise with senior management to report on network health, ongoing risks, and capacity / upgrade planning.
Technical Ownership
1 Configure & maintain Cisco & FortiGate networks
Configure and maintain enterprise networks using Cisco and FortiGate equipment.
2. Layer 2 / Layer 3 design & troubleshooting
Own design and troubleshooting of STP, RSTP, VTP, VLANs, HSRP, and VRRP.
3. BGP, OSPF & routing governance
Manage BGP sessions on ASR, route-maps, route-policies, AS-path policies, OSPF, and failover routing strategies.
4. VPN solutions & remote access
Implement and oversee VPN solutions (Site-to-Site, SSL, IPSec) and remote access policies.
5. High availability — MLAG, VPC, Port-Channel
Maintain high availability using MLAG, VPC, and Port-Channel technologies.
7. Firewalls, ACLs & FortiGate UTM
Secure and segment networks using firewalls, ACLs, and advanced FortiGate UTM features.
8. Vendor & cross-team collaboration
Lead vendor and cross-team collaboration for upgrades, migrations, and major incident response.
9. Root cause analysis & optimization
Drive RCA for recurring / critical issues and lead infrastructure optimization initiatives.
10. Documentation & topology upkeep
Ensure comprehensive documentation of topologies, configurations, and SOPs is maintained and current.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on enterprise networking experience, with at least 3 years in a team lead / senior engineer capacity.
- Strong command of L2/L3 protocols and enterprise networking standards.
- Proven expertise with Cisco IOS / NX-OS and FortiOS.
- Deep hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF, VPN, STP, VTP, and VLAN planning.
- Solid grounding in MLAG, VPC, and high-availability network designs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex routing / firewall troubleshooting and major incident resolution.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (Observium, NetFlow, SNMP).
- CCNP / CCIE and/or NSE certification preferred (CCIE or NSE4+ strongly preferred for this level).
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a technical team, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Must Have
- Exposure to datacenter interconnect, VXLAN, EVPN, or SD-WAN.
- Experience with automation using Python or Ansible for network tasks.
- Experience managing vendor SLAs and contract-based network support.
