Role Summary

In this role, you will serve as a lead business analysis partner within Investments Technology, supporting Equity investment teams and the platforms, data, workflows, and digital capabilities that enable research, portfolio management, trading, analytics, and decision-making. You will act as the primary interface between Equity stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, data partners, and enterprise technology groups to translate complex investment needs into clear business requirements, user stories, process flows, and scalable technology solutions. This role requires strong investment domain knowledge, disciplined Agile delivery experience, and an interest in applying AI-enabled capabilities responsibly to improve insight generation, workflow efficiency, and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead business analyst for Investments Technology initiatives supporting Equity investment teams, including research, portfolio management, trading, analytics, and related investment workflows.
  • Partner closely with portfolio managers, analysts, traders, product owners, engineers, architects, data teams, and technology leaders to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable technology outcomes.
  • Lead discovery, requirements elicitation, process analysis, data analysis, and solution definition for complex Equity technology initiatives.
  • Translate investment workflows and business needs into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, process flows, and functional specifications.
  • Drive Agile delivery practices, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, prioritization, dependency management, sprint reviews, UAT coordination, release readiness, and post-implementation support.
  • Ensure work is prioritized by business value, risk, urgency, stakeholder impact, and alignment with Investments Technology strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI, automation, data-driven insights, and workflow improvements to enhance Equity research, investment analysis, operational efficiency, and decision support.
  • Collaborate with AI, data, engineering, and product teams to help define responsible AI use cases, user workflows, validation needs, controls, and adoption considerations.
  • Analyze current-state processes and systems to identify gaps, pain points, data quality issues, and opportunities for simplification, standardization, and reuse.
  • Communicate priorities, progress, risks, decisions, and tradeoffs clearly to business stakeholders, technology teams, and leadership.
  • Act as a trusted advisor across the Equity business domain, helping connect investment strategy with technology strategy.
  • Mentor less experienced analysts and help strengthen business analysis, Agile delivery, and product ownership practices across the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Business knowledge

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Equity investment workflows, including research, portfolio construction, trading, analytics, market data, portfolio data, and related front-office processes.
  • Understands how investment professionals use data, systems, models, analytics, and emerging AI capabilities to generate insight and make decisions.
  • Applies knowledge of investment management, technology strategy, data quality, and product delivery to recommend practical and scalable solutions.
  • Makes decisions and recommendations that align with Equity business priorities, Investments Technology strategy, Agile delivery goals, and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Typically, 8+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, product analysis, investment technology, financial services technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with, product owners, engineers, architects, data teams, QA, and technology leadership.
  • Strong experience with Agile delivery practices, including Scrum or Kanban, backlog management, user story development, acceptance criteria, sprint planning, dependency management, demos, UAT, and release readiness.
  • Ability to lead complex requirements discussions, synthesize ambiguous business needs, resolve competing priorities, and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • Ability to explain investment, data, AI, and technology concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of AI, generative AI, automation, analytics, or intelligent workflow concepts, with the ability to help identify practical use cases and responsible adoption opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate workflows, data quality, business rules, system behavior, and user impacts.
  • Experience using Agile collaboration and documentation tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms preferred.
  • SQL, data analysis, investment data, market data, or reporting experience preferred.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Equity, investment management, asset management, capital markets, wealth management, or other front-office financial services technology environments.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

$122,000.00 - $209,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers $135,000.00 - $230,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C. $153,000.00 - $261,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role.  Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
