Contract Senior Technical Project Manager

Robotics Product Development — Mechanical / Mechatronics Focus

Simplexity is a product development engineering firm hired by leading technology companies to design their next-generation products. We are seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager (TPM) with a mechanical engineering or robotics background to drive prototype-build execution on a confidential robotic product-development program at a client site in the Seattle area.

You will partner with the program's Lead TPM and own the build schedules: coordinating complex prototype builds across mechanical, electrical, firmware, test, and supplier teams, and driving deliverables to committed dates. This is a hands-on execution role for someone who creates structure in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and isn't shy about pulling people together to make decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own coordination and delivery of current and next-version prototype builds, from design release through fabrication, assembly, integration, and test.
  • Build and drive detailed schedules: milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and build-readiness criteria.
  • Drive supplier deliverables: set clear dates, interrogate progress, follow up persistently, and escalate risks early.
  • Pressure-test engineering and supplier estimates, then push back constructively when timelines aren't credible.
  • Proactively convene the right people to resolve ambiguity, unblock execution, and drive decisions to closure.
  • Report milestone health, risks, and recovery plans clearly to engineering and program leadership.

WHAT YOU BRING  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering field.

  • 8+ years of technical project management experience with electromechanical hardware, including direct ownership of complex prototype-build execution.
  • Enough engineering depth to evaluate work plans, spot missing dependencies, and judge whether proposed timelines are realistic.
  • A track record of creating structure and momentum where responsibilities, priorities, and plans change frequently.
  • A proactive, direct facilitation style: you get the right people in the room and drive to a decision.

NICE TO HAVE  • Experience with robotic or mechatronic products such as end effectors, manipulators, or automation equipment.

  • Ability to read 2D drawings and 3D CAD, and familiarity with PDM/PLM systems.
  • Experience managing supplier or contract-manufacturer schedules and technical deliverables.

LOCATION

  • Onsite five days per week at a Simplexity client site in the Seattle metropolitan area.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
