Job Summary
- The Lead Software Engineer – Infrastructure Automation & AIOps is a technical lead role responsible for transforming infrastructure operations through software engineering, intelligent automation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- This role will lead the design and development of automation platforms that simplify how infrastructure is built, deployed, secured, operated, and maintained across a diverse technology ecosystem spanning Stores, Corporate environments, Distribution Centers, Cloud, and End User Computing.
- A primary responsibility of this role is to bring a software engineering mindset to infrastructure. Rather than solving operational challenges through manual processes and one-off scripts, the Lead Engineer will develop scalable, reusable, API-driven automation capabilities that can be consumed across infrastructure teams.
- The engineer will build end-to-end automated pipelines for operating system lifecycle management, covering Linux, Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. These pipelines will automate activities from OS image creation and configuration through security validation, certification, publishing, deployment, patching, upgrades, and ongoing compliance.
- Another major focus of the role will be security and vulnerability remediation automation. The Lead Engineer will develop solutions capable of identifying, prioritizing, and remediating vulnerabilities consistently across different infrastructure environments while integrating security controls directly into infrastructure engineering pipelines.
- The role will also lead the adoption of AIOps and Generative AI for infrastructure operations. This includes developing intelligent assistants, chatbots, AI agents, and automated remediation capabilities that can diagnose infrastructure problems, analyze telemetry, recommend corrective actions, and ultimately execute approved remediation workflows.
- The long-term objective is to move infrastructure operations from manual and reactive management toward automated, proactive, predictive, and increasingly self-healing operations
Core Responsibilities •Working closely with Infrastructure team in building product roadmap, translating the roadmap to design decisions, estimate and getting it developed. •Collaborate with architects or engineering leaders to ensure functional specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable solution designs •Develop, configure, or modify microservices or AI OPS or event driven architectural solutions using appropriate technology stack •Build and execute automated test scenarios •Deploy the solution by building and maintaining continuous deployment pipelines •Participate and coach junior team members •Learn and continuously upgrade skills •Must work well in a dynamic team environment; Excellent team and collaboration skills •Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy Years of Experience •8+ years in software / IT development
Education Qualification & Certifications (optional) Required Minimum Qualifications: •Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field) •8 years of experience in software development or a related field •6 years of experience in database technologies •6 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)
Primary Skills (must have) •Should have at least 3+ years of experience in designing enterprise level solutions and at least 8 years in a coding role. •Should have at least 2 years’ experience in coding and architecting applications using micro service architecture and patterns. •Ability to provide architecture solution, low level design, user story creation and assist the developers in any tech or domain difficulties. •Able to understand the infrastructure landscape and build solutions to automate and enable AI Ops •Excellent java or python coding skills and ansible skills for infrastructure automations •Experienced and comfortable in using Docker and Kubernetes •Should be hands-on and able to develop code and Proof of Concepts. •Drive the adoption of new technologies by researching technical trends and developments. •Experience in designing and providing technical direction to the team via sessions and design artifacts. •Worked in Agile Development and aware of CI-CD best practices. •Able to design taking into account scalability, availability and performance for applications with heavy traffic. •Able to provide best practices for development, unit testing and acceptance testing. •Should be able to collaborate and work with the global teams.
Technology •More than 8+ years experience in Java or Python. •Microservice design patterns and cloud deployment. •Infrastructure automations •Create solutions using Messaging technologies like Kafka and MQ. •Experience in designing and using Caches, Relational and NO-SQL databases. •Worked on Maven, Gradle, GIT and Jenkins.
