Position Overview
As a Data Engineer at XTEL, you will work directly on client solutions and oversee the health of our delivery processes within our AI-driven SaaS platform for the CPG/FMCG market. Through a structured onboarding and training programme, you will gain hands-on expertise across our deployed solutions, taking ownership of both scheduled maintenance activities and on-demand tasks such as troubleshooting, data validation, and change request implementation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep our AI systems healthy, valuable, and explainable — while managing feedback flows that drive continuous improvement and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Solution Setup: Perform the technical configuration and initial setup of XTEL's AI solutions for new clients, ensuring a smooth and accurate onboarding experience.
- Routine Maintenance: Handle bug fixes, system upgrades, and scheduled health checks to keep client installations running reliably and efficiently.
- Change Request Implementation: Analyse and implement special maintenance tasks and change requests, adapting software configurations to meet evolving client needs.
- Ticketing & Issue Resolution: Manage and resolve client needs and technical issues through a structured ticketing system, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Data Pipeline Health: Monitor and maintain the integrity of data sources, pipelines, and delivered solutions; lead troubleshooting and debugging workflows to resolve incidents proactively.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Project and Product teams to report solution feedback, flag recurring issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of XTEL's platform.
- Process Resilience: Contribute to a proactive delivery culture by identifying risks early, documenting findings, and supporting the development of scalable operational processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a STEM discipline, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in Data Management, Data Science or Analytics.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience using data manipulation libraries (NumPy, pandas).
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Solid understanding of coding practices and software development fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a client-facing technical environment, managing both scheduled and unplanned tasks.
Nice to Have:
- Strong analytical skills with a critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and the Azure Cloud ecosystem.
- Exposure to data management, data science, or analytics in a professional context.
Personal Attributes:
- Client-oriented mindset: You approach client interactions with empathy, patience, and professionalism — understanding that behind every ticket is a business need that matters.
- Clear communicator: You can translate technical findings into plain language for non-technical stakeholders, and you know when to escalate versus when to resolve independently.
- Proactive and ownership-driven: You take initiative, follow through on commitments, and flag issues early rather than waiting to be asked.
- Collaborative team player: You thrive in cross-functional environments, building trusted relationships with colleagues across Project, Product, and Client teams.
- Adaptable and curious learner: You embrace new tools, processes, and domains with a can-do attitude, and you are comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Detail-oriented and reliable: You take quality seriously — whether it's a data validation, a bug fix, or a client-facing update — and you consistently deliver work that others can depend on.
