Job Description
- Administer, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server database services in distributed environments
- Provide 2nd line support for database services, incidents, performance issues, and availability problems
- Monitor, tune, optimize, and plan the capacity, performance, and availability of database platforms
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts, ETL processes, data transformations, and cloud-based data integration solutions
- Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft Business Intelligence and Microsoft Fabric platforms, tools, and services
- Manage high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including SQL Server Always On deployments
- Administer supporting virtual infrastructure and database monitoring solutions
- Implement changes in accordance with ICT change management procedures
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and service records
- Produce operational reports and perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant IT professional experience, including at least 3 years in a Database Administrator or similar role
- Minimum education level: Level 6 (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in an ICT-relevant field
- Expert-level experience administering, monitoring, tuning, optimizing, and capacity planning Microsoft SQL Server environments in distributed infrastructures
- Experience with SQL scripting, ETL solutions, data transformations, and cloud-based data services
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft Business Intelligence and Microsoft Fabric solutions
- Hands-on experience with database monitoring tools, performance diagnostics, and virtualized infrastructure environments
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server high availability, Always On deployments, recovery models, backup strategies, and disaster recovery methodologies
- Expertise using SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), or similar tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Knowledge of Microsoft server technologies and supporting infrastructure components
- Experience working in restricted or highly secure operational environments
- Proactive, self-motivated, and service-oriented mindset with strong teamwork, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies and operational requirements
Additional Information
- Experience supporting mission-critical database services in restricted or highly secure environments is considered a strong asset
- At least 1 of the following certifications is considered a strong asset:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate
- or an equivalent internationally recognized certification
- Knowledge of DBPlus Performance Monitor is considered a strong asset
