Database Administrator

Must be in Central MN and have reasonable commute to St. Cloud, MN due to in-office requirements.

SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

COMPENSATION: Starting Pay $67,000 – $83,750 per year. (The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.)

Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your career, build hands-on SQL Server experience, and work with a supportive team? PCI is seeking a Database Administrator who is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn.

In this role, you'll monitor and maintain SQL Server databases, troubleshoot issues, write T-SQL queries, and support critical business systems while working closely with our Data Architecture team. This is an excellent opportunity to build your database administration skills, gain exposure to modern data platforms, and grow through mentorship, hands-on experience, and continuous learning.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Install and maintain the performance of database servers.
  • Perform routine database maintenance: backups, index maintenance, statistics updates, and integrity checks.
  • Manage database security.
  • Performance tuning of database systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors, including blocking, deadlocks, slow queries, and job failures.
  • Maintain and document SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, and maintenance plans.
  • Be available for on-call support as needed.
  • Modify and enhance existing stored procedures supporting data warehouse ETL processes, including troubleshooting logic errors, optimizing query performance, and updating procedures to accommodate schema or business rule changes.
  • Provides primary technical support, technical configuration, and development for various third-party applications which feature database centric architecture

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent program or equivalent experience
  • 2-3+ years of hands-on database administration
  • Understanding of relational database concepts (tables, indexes, keys, normalization)
  • Familiarity with T-SQL for querying and stored procedure development and Powershell for automation scripting
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting

Nice to have but not Required!

  • Internship, coursework, or academic project experience with SQL Server or another relational database platform.
  • Exposure to database security, performance monitoring, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Windows Server, or IT ticketing/service management systems.
  • Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Data Fundamentals certification, or related coursework.
