Technical Business Analyst

Grade: Clerk 7/8 Salary range: $116,981 -$129,492 + superannuation and leave loading Employment type: Ongoing. Location: Hybrid working, with weekly office attendance flexibly at Revenue NSW offices within NSW.

About the team

We are currently seeking to appoint a Technical Business Analyst with a strong background in system integrations, APIs, and data analysis to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, architects, and product teams to analyse, define, and deliver integration solutions that support key business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include

  • Analyse system integrations, APIs, databases, and business processes to define end-to-end requirements and solutions.
  • Produce technical requirements, interface specifications, data mappings, and process flows.
  • Work closely with architects, developers, and QA engineers to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Support solution design workshops, technical discovery activities, and impact assessments.
  • Investigate problems, analyse solution options, and provide recommendations for new and existing services.
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders and users to understand business needs, analyse problems, and support the prioritisation of business outcomes.
  • Identify and recommend business and process improvements, contributing to the development, facilitation, coordination, and communication of initiatives that promote continuous improvement and Agile best practices.
  • Ensure the health of the product backlog through ongoing refinement, requirements analysis, story decomposition, and prioritisation support.
  • Define and communicate user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure the delivery team has a clear and shared understanding of requirements.
  • Support testing and validation activities by ensuring solutions meet business, functional, and technical requirements.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 3+ years' experience as a Business Analyst in a technology delivery environment.
  • Proven experience working with APIs, system integrations, and distributed applications.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and troubleshoot JSON and XML payloads.
  • Experience documenting API specifications, interface contracts, and data mappings.
  • Strong SQL and database analysis skills, including the ability to write and execute queries for data validation and investigation.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native and microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and SQL query tools.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery teams alongside developers, architects, and QA engineers.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and facilitation skills.
