Data Platform Architect:

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Data Platform Architect to work on Qualys’ next-generation data platform and middleware. Working alongside a very talented team of engineers and architects, you will be responsible for prototyping, designing, developing and supporting a highly scalable SaaS based cloud security data platform. This is a great opportunity to be an integral part of a team building Qualys’ next generation microservices based technology platform processing over a 100 million transactions and terabytes of data per day, leverage open-source technologies, and work on challenging and business-impacting projects.     Responsibilities      As a platform architect, you will be responsible for the availability and scalability of Qualys’s relational and NoSQL databases, search engines, graph databases, caches, big data systems and message pipelines. This at the scale of a million transactions per second in NoSQL databases, across trillions of datapoints in the search engine, billions of messages per day flowing through the message pipelines and scaling 100s of terabytes of data in relational databases all with sub-second latencies.

Responsible for driving the data source and providing data platform as a service to all applications built in Qualys.

You will be part of the architecture review board reviewing applications’ architecture and identifying the data scale needs. Investigate the cutting-edge technologies, do POC, and then be responsible for defining the guidelines for using the data technologies at scale. Be the face and developer advocate of the stack you own and contribute back to open-source community if any enhancement is needed to fit in the Qualys ecosystem.

Applying Machine Learning and AI technologies to improve the availability and performance of data platform services while keeping the operational costs down.

Conduct brown bag sessions with application development teams to share guidelines, POC findings and industry trends.

You will be instrumenting both day 1 and day 2 operations on these data technologies, keeping the 100s of thousands if not millions of operations per second. Migrate or burst into cloud and scale the stack with zero downtime.

You will also be responsible for reviewing the cloud-native architecture of data platform technologies.

You will be constantly in the hunt for better solutions out there to resolve the current issues with scale, availability, and costs across cloud platforms.

Co-develop with a strong sense of ownership, Qualys’ big-data platform that scales to meet/exceed the demands of processing over 100 million transactions and terabytes of data per day.

Architecture, performance, scalability, high availability, and security will be your primary goals for delivering a first-rate experience to our customers.

Work closely with engineering teams, product management and operations to provide platform and infrastructure features and components to support Qualys’ business objectives.
