Description - SENIO003945 – Senior Project Manager, Water/Wastewater Treatment Systems

Senior Project Manager

At Salas O’Brien we tell our clients that we’re engineered for impact. This passion for making a difference applies just as much to our team as it does to our projects. That’s why we’re committed to living our values every day: inspiring, achieving, and connecting as shared owners of our success with a focus on a sustainable future.

Building for the long-term means that all our team members can expect to work on amazing projects with a people-first approach to problem solving. It also means that each member of our team has truly limitless potential to build a unique, meaningful, and high-impact career—and they’ll receive great total rewards along the way.

About Us:

Founded in 1975, Salas O’Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for our clients, our team, and the world. We know that tomorrow’s requirements are today’s opportunities, and we are here to design lasting solutions for pressing challenges.

We work across a variety of disciplines providing integrated engineering and consulting services. Our specialized experience includes design for public utilities and private entities including water and wastewater systems, data centers, healthcare, science and technology, high-rise buildings, clean energy, education, and other building types as well as structural and building sciences, infrastructure asset management, advanced robotics, and more.

Our technical expertise is paired with an exceptional team of business development, human resources, finance and accounting, information technology, and marketing professionals, all of whom play a key role in bringing our commitments to life every day.

Job Summary: We need a Senior Project Manager who can quickly develop into a Principal and practice leader. We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual who has gained valuable technical and practice management skills and knows they can do more. This is an opportunity to build and lead a practice with significant team and company support. While marketing and development of an independent portfolio of clients is desirable, our immediate need is to support several internal water treatment plant design project opportunities.

The successful candidate will excel in engineering and project management, as well as marketing, and mentoring. The position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a demonstrated track record of success to establish an independent practice while receiving mentoring and support from a highly capable team. The ideal candidate must enjoy solving problems for clients while making the client’s life and job easier. It’s critical that the professionals in this position have a proven record of successful projects involving all aspects of water and wastewater systems as demonstrated by happy, loyal clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise multiple projects to ensure they meet commitments related to time, quality, and communication. Work directly with clients to establish project schedules and set expectations.
  • Demonstrated success and expertise in water treatment design is critical to this position. Also display solid understanding of the principles related to water and wastewater utility engineering. This can include wells, pipelines, pump stations, storage tanks, and treatment systems.
  • Proven track record as a problem solver in a client facing role.
  • Serve as a project manager lead; provide and enhance client relationships.
  • With significant support from existing teams, recruit, lead, and direct staff and sub-consultants in the execution of specific projects to meet schedules and timely completion of projects.
  • Relish opportunity to build practice and be supported by a company that is keenly interested in organic growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Masters degree preferred
  • 15+ years of related experience in water/wastewater projects in a design/engineering consulting environment
  • PE Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits:

  • Gain invaluable industry experience and practical engineering skills.
  • Work with a diverse team of professionals, fostering networking opportunities.
  • Access to mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Competitive compensation package.
