Experienced Embedded Linux Software Developer

Position Overview

 

We are looking for an Experienced Embedded Linux Software Developer who will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software solutions for product enhancements and new products.

You will join our Digital Solution Connectivity team and develop the embedded software platform that connects ESAB equipment to our InduSuite system.

The role involves developing software and tools across embedded systems, networks, and cloud-based platforms.

You will also evaluate software and hardware compatibility, contribute to technical decisions, and solve complex problems requiring the analysis of multiple factors. Working with R&D stakeholders, you will apply your strong knowledge of software engineering principles and practices to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-quality solutions.

 

Responsibilities

Software development:

  • Design, implement and maintain software solutions based on input requirements:
  • Develop and maintain Linux embedded/software platform components, primarily in C++
  • Independently perform debugging and troubleshooting across application code, Embedded Linux, and hardware
  • Apply secure and robust engineering practices
  • Participate in technical investigations and feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical input to software architecture decisions.
  • Analyze input requirements from software design perspective and communicate conclusions to stakeholders, e.g. Platform Owners and Architecture Owner
  • Time estimations and planning of software work
  • Technical documentation and instructions

Work Processes:

  • Continuously identify and implement improvements of work processes and methods

 

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Technical Skill Areas

A solid and proven competence foundation within all the areas below is required:

  • Software Design and Architecture
  • System Investigations / Evaluations
  • Scalable and Flexible Software Architecture
  • Modern C++ (C++17/20) Programming
  • Gitlab CI/CD
  • Practical experience in TCP/IP, CAN and secure communication protocols
  • Practical experience in microcontrollers and low-level programming (e.g. Cortex, ARM, STM)
  • Methods for module and system testing, understanding of test automation in CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience using AI-assisted software development tools.
  • Experience developing and optimizing software for resource-constrained systems

A basic understanding of all the areas below is required:
