JOB DESCRIPTION :

We are seeking a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer for Canadian public sector projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Producing products and services that are user-friendly, and accessible for the endusers;
  • Participating in all phases of the UX design process, including:
  • Designing wireframes and prototypes; and
  • Continuously iterating on solutions.
  • Designing all the screens a user might interact with and creating the visual and interactive elements that make this interaction possible, such as designing the following features:
  • Icons;
  • Buttons;
  • Menu bars;
  • Typography; and
  • colors, etc.
  • Documenting design specifications by creating annotations for effective hand-off to the

development team;

  • Contributing to and maintaining the design system;
  • Creating reusable design components, and optimizing the user interface for

performance;

  • Ensuring compliance with style guides such as the Canada.ca design system and the

Canada.ca Content Style Guide;

  • Working in an open, iterative and collaborative way with the CDO;
  • Working within a strategic context and communicating how activities meet strategic

goals;

  • Participating in or running design critiques to receive and integrate feedback from

Stakeholders throughout the design process;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Post-secondary education mandatory.
  • More than ten (10) years' experience as a UX Designer.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence (AI), specifically Claude Code.
  • Experience in conducting all the following activities:
  • supporting user research;
  • creating user personas;
  • developing prototypes;
  • performing usability tests;
  • ensuring compliance with visual brand guidelines;
  • continuously iterating on solutions with feedback collected through various mechanisms;
  • complying with accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally including:
  • communicating with Project Stakeholders;
  • collaborating with Agile cross-functional teams;
  • aligning design with strategic business objectives; and
  • presenting design work with evidence-based justifications to various Project Stakeholders.
  • Documentation, insights and presentation of actionable recommendations.
  • Applying research ethics, data privacy, accessibility, and inclusive lenses to all stages of activities.
  • Experience working in Agile product team environments.
  • Spoken and written English required.
  • Government of Canada security clearance (Reliability) and former public sector work experience an asset.
