About the role:
As a Lead Java Engineer you'll become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experience of tomorrow. Together, we will work on the project for our client, Tango Analytics, helping businesses make smarter decisions through powerful technology, insightful data, and commercial real estate software solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Define, evolve, and own the application and platform architecture, including service boundaries, integration patterns, data modeling, and API standards
- Lead architecture reviews and influence product roadmaps to balance rapid delivery with long-term simplicity, performance, and maintainability
- Evaluate and responsibly introduce new technologies, establish best practices in design, CI/CD, secure coding, and create reference implementations
- Partner across teams to solve complex technical challenges, including system modernization, performance tuning, data migrations, and distributed systems
- Guide technical strategy for multi-region global cloud deployments (DR, availability, observability) and support FedRAMP/regulated environment compliance
- Mentor and coach engineers across teams, lead architecture guilds, and build learning mechanisms to raise the technical bar across the organization
Requirements:
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 5 years operating in senior technical leadership or expert roles within B2B SaaS environments
- Strong multi-stack technical proficiency across Java/J2EE, relational databases (Oracle, Postgres), major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue.js)
- Proven track record of architecture leadership, strong systems design skills (scalability, reliability, data consistency), and driving alignment across teams
- Hands-on experience with global cloud operations at scale and navigating FedRAMP or comparable regulated compliance frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a history of writing design docs and mentoring engineering teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Desirable:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

- Experience leading large-scale modernizations of legacy Java/J2EE applications
- Background or domain knowledge in commercial real estate software
Personal skills:
- Strong pragmatic mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make clear, durable technical trade-offs
- Exceptional influence and collaboration skills to build alignment across product, engineering, and executive leadership
- Active mentor and teacher passionate about continuous learning, engineering quality, and team development
