About the role
You will own the end-to-end strategy and roadmap for an AI-native operations platform, managing the integration of AI agents into compliance, support, and payment operations. Additionally, you will lead the operations analyst team to define benchmarks, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement of agent performance.
What they look for
Requirements
The role requires over 8 years of product management experience with a focus on shipping production AI or LLM-based products. Candidates must possess deep expertise in fintech operations, regulatory frameworks like BSA/AML and KYC, and strong quantitative skills including SQL and evaluation design.
Full description
Who we are
We are a well-funded, early-stage startup in stealth mode, building modern infrastructure to transform B2B payments. We are looking for builders who want to solve complex problems from the ground up.
We are hiring a Principal Product Manager to own our AI-native operations platform and the operations function it powers — across compliance, customer and partner support, and payment operations — and to define what “good” looks like for AI-run operations as we scale.
About the Role
We are building the operational core of our fintech as an AI-native system. Rather than scaling headcount with transaction volume, we are building a fleet of AI agents to handle compliance, customer and financial-partner support, and payment operations — supervised by a small team of operations analysts who act as agent managers rather than queue workers.
You will own that system end to end: define and build the agent platform, and run the operations function that depends on it. The dual mandate is deliberate — you will feel every gap in the product because the numbers you report are the numbers your product generates. There is no accepted benchmark for AI-run compliance operations, so we expect you to create those benchmarks, defend them with auditors and partner banks, and beat them quarter over quarter.
Key Responsibilities
Scope
- Compliance: KYB/KYC onboarding and periodic review, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring and alert triage, regulatory filings and reports.
- Customer & partner support: customer inquiries, bank and financial-partner queries, disputes intake, escalation routing, knowledge management.
- Payment operations: reconciliation and settlement, return and exception handling, proactive pre-failure checks, anomaly detection and investigation.
- Multi-jurisdiction scale: scope grows with transaction and customer volume and the number of jurisdictions we report into — US federal and state first, then internationally.
What You Will Own
- Strategy and roadmap for the internal AI operations platform, including what to automate fully, what to keep human-in-the-loop, and what should never be automated — defensible to Compliance, Legal, and partner banks.
- Agent design with engineering: task decomposition, tool and API surfaces, retrieval and context strategy, escalation and confidence thresholds, audit-ready decision logging, and guardrails including PII handling, versioning, rollback, and kill switches.
- Evaluation and continuous learning: golden datasets, offline eval harnesses, regression suites for every policy change, shadow-mode and A/B testing, drift monitoring, and a feedback loop that turns analyst corrections and escalations into measurable agent improvement.
- The operations function: lead the analyst team, own SLAs and outcomes across all three domains (resolution times, filing timeliness and accuracy, backlog, QA pass rates, cost per case), build the capacity model, and own operational readiness for new products, rails, partners, and markets.
- Regulatory translation: turn regulatory obligations into agent behavior, controls, and evidence; design the jurisdiction abstraction so a new market is configuration and testing, not a rebuild; keep every automated decision explainable and traceable to the policy version that produced it.
- New benchmarks: define and publish the metric framework for compliance effectiveness and efficiency — precision and recall on monitoring and screening, override and escalation rates, time-to-decision, cost per alert and per case, jurisdiction coverage, and automation rate with quality held constant.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in product management with principal-level scope — you set direction, not just execute it.
- Shipped production AI or LLM-based products real users depend on. You understand where these systems fail and how to bound that failure.
- Depth in fintech operations — compliance, payments, risk, or financial crime. You know what an alert queue, a reconciliation break, a return code, and a regulatory filing actually are.
- Working fluency in the regulatory landscape: BSA/AML, KYC/KYB, OFAC sanctions, SAR and CTR filing, transaction monitoring, and the payments rulebooks for your rails.
- A record of owning operational outcomes — SLAs, quality, throughput, and cost — with a team reporting to you or dotted-line to you.
- Strong quantitative skills. SQL is table stakes; you can design an eval, reason about precision/recall trade-offs and base rates, and tell a real regression from noise.
- Internal-tools instinct and high-trust communication: credible in a technical design review in the morning and a partner-bank compliance discussion in the afternoon.
- Preferred: hands-on work with agent frameworks or LLM evaluation tooling; regulatory experience beyond the US; having been on the receiving end of an exam, audit, or partner-bank review; a background as an operator, analyst, or engineer before product.
