Salary Range: $ 56,286- $72,627 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Work Location: On-Site/Hybrid (This position will need to be on campus 2 days per week.)

Summary
The IDEA Data Analyst supports the Office of Institutional Data, Effectiveness, and Analytics (IDEA) by providing technical expertise in data collection, validation, analysis, reporting, visualization, and survey research to advance institutional effectiveness and data-informed decision-making. The incumbent collaborates with campus partners to develop meaningful reports, dashboards, surveys, and research that support student success, strategic planning, assessment, accreditation, and institutional accountability.
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Data, Effectiveness, and Analytics (IDEA), the Data Analyst contributes to institutional research and survey initiatives, promotes data quality and governance practices, and serves as a trusted resource for campus stakeholders.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Data Validation (10%25) – Assesses the quality and accuracy of data used by IDEA and attempts to identify root causes of any inconsistencies. Collaborates with appropriate campus data stewards and custodians to resolve the concerns. Documents data definitions, business rules, and reporting processes in alignment with UCCS data governance practices. Supports efforts to maintain reliable institutional data across reporting platforms and institutional datasets.
- Query Building (10%25) – Creates and refines queries to retrieve accurate and current information from institutional data sources (e.g., PeopleSoft/Campus Solutions, CU Central Information Warehouse, Slate, Qualtrics) for use in reports, visualizations, survey administration, research, and analysis.
- Report Generation and Data Visualization (20%25) – Designs, develops, and maintains interactive Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate institutional performance and support data-informed decision-making. Collaborates with stakeholders across Academic Affairs, Student Success, Administration, and other campus units to develop reports that address planning, assessment, accreditation, and operational needs. Assists in maintaining scalable reporting solutions that provide timely, accurate, and actionable information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Survey Development, Administration, and Analysis (30%25) – Serves as the primary administrator for institutional surveys managed by IDEA and supports the development, administration, analysis, and reporting of institutional surveys including NSSE and custom campus surveys. Uses Qualtrics to design, manage, and deploy surveys. Analyzes quantitative and qualitative results, produces reports, visualizations, summaries, and presentations that clearly communicate survey findings for institutional planning, assessment, accreditation, and student success initiatives.
- Faculty Course Questionnaire (FCQ) Administration (30%25) – Serves as the primary administrator for the Watermark Faculty Course Questionnaire (FCQ) system, managing term setup, course, instructor, and student data imports, survey scheduling, communications, and troubleshooting. Collaborates with the Faculty Resource Center on LMS/Canvas integration, the Office of Information Technology, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and other campus stakeholders to maintain and improve FCQ processes, documentation, and recommend workflow enhancements that improve efficiency, data quality, student experience and response rates.

- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., data science, social science, education, business analytics) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Two or more years of experience in data analysis, institutional research, business intelligence, survey research, project coordination, or a related field is required.
- Experience in querying relational databases and analyzing data to support organizational decision-making is required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills with the ability to present complex data, technical information, and survey findings to non-technical audiences is required.
- Knowledge of survey research principles, including questionnaire design, sampling, response-rate monitoring, data quality, and interpretation of survey results is preferred.
- Experience with survey development, administration, data management, and analysis including experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics or similar tools is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Tableau, Microsoft Excel, SQL, and at least one statistical or programming language (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS, or Python) is preferred.
