As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our network's architecture, ensuring its reliability, security, and efficiency. This advanced position requires not only a deep understanding of network infrastructure but also the ability to lead projects, innovate, and collaborate effectively across departments. Your expertise will drive the integration of cutting-edge network technologies and best practices to support our organization's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Network Design and Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated network architectures that support organizational needs. Evaluate, recommend, and integrate cutting-edge network technologies, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Advanced Documentation and Network Management: Develop, update, and maintain detailed network documentation and diagrams. Ensure the network's operational integrity through proactive management and optimization of network resources.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Serve as a key leader within the IT department, guiding junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives. Lead initiatives that enhance network functionality and security.
  • Expert Troubleshooting and Operational Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex network issues. Lead network installations, conduct advanced site surveys, and oversee significant upgrades and repairs.
  • Capacity Planning and Security Oversight: Direct system capacity planning and conduct thorough configuration and security audits. Manage strategic projects with colocation facilities and lead comprehensive network strategy development.
  • IP Strategy and Management: Oversee IP allocation and management, developing and executing network strategies that ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Innovation and Technology Leadership: Champion next-generation networking projects, leveraging partnerships to explore and implement new technologies. Drive decisions on technology investments and implementations to advance the network infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years of demonstrating advanced technical expertise in a related role.
  • Extensive experience in complex network environments, including mastery of SD-WAN, cloud and on-premises firewalls, network access control, wireless environments, and multi-cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Cloud Infrastructure Proficiency: Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, including expertise in virtual networks, security groups, and identity management services.
  • Comprehensive Networking Skills: Advanced knowledge of the OSI model, routing, switching, and security concepts (RADIUS, 802.1X). Demonstrated experience with infrastructure solutions from leading providers (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto).
  • Operational Excellence: Operational mastery of cloud environments, network and routing protocols, Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, and Software Defined Networking.
  • Leadership and Strategic Planning: Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of leading technical teams and projects. Experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies, with strong project management skills.
  • Security and Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of security standards (STIGs), vulnerability management, and implementing vendor best practices.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Advanced certifications such as GCP, Azure, AWS Cloud certifications; CISSP; advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE).

Clearance:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust. Active Public Trust is preferred. FEMA Public Trust is highly preferred.
