Senior Java Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable backend services. In this role, you will work with microservice-based architectures, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications, using modern Java and Spring Boot while collaborating closely with DevOps and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend microservices using Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs with clear error handling and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
• Develop gRPC services and clients, including Protobuf schema design
• Build event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka
• Integrate backend services with external enterprise systems
• Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and RBAC
• Develop and maintain data integrations using PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
• Write unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Contribute to application modernization and Java version migrations
• Participate in Agile development processes, code reviews, and continuous improvement

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, preferably Java 21
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, including microservices, REST controllers, data access, and security
• Experience migrating applications from older Java versions
• Solid knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
• Good understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and role-based access control
• Experience with automated unit and integration testing
• Experience working within an Agile environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with Confluent Kafka or Azure Event Hubs
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Experience with enterprise integrations such as Salesforce or SAP ISU
• Familiarity with cloud-native observability tools
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps
