As part of Komline, Heron Innovators manufactures innovative Suspended Air® Flotation (SAF®) water and wastewater treatment solutions. Through customized skid-mounted or standalone SAF systems, Heron Innovators delivers sustainable and cost-effective solutions that outperform traditional wastewater treatment methods.
The Project Engineer I is the primary customer interface and project coordinator for Komline-Heron's innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions. This Project Manager I manages the complete project lifecycle from order receipt through equipment delivery and startup, execution of industrial fabrication projects, and maintenance of strong customer relationships.
Role and Responsibilities
- While adhering to customer requirements and internal processes, oversee projects from purchase order receipt through product delivery and startup
- Be the internal point of contact for customers to ensure seamless communication
- Interpret purchase orders, establish detailed requirements matrixes, and verify specifications (material, electrical, coatings, payment, etc.)
- Review and interpret customer specifications
- Create and issue order confirmations while managing submittals
- Develop and monitor project schedules that are aligned with material lead‑times, fabrication capacity, and service availability
- Lead decisions on make-versus-buy and manage externally fabricated equipment (skids, tanks, etc.)
- Coordinate equipment delivery and collaborate with customer teams on installation timelines to enable proper service scheduling
- Manage shipment logistics by tracking delivery and receipt of major equipment
- Evaluate change requests, process change orders, and ensure accurate project cost allocations.
- Oversee and refine internal procedures to streamline project execution and ramp up operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or related technical field
- Relevant experience managing fabrication/equipment projects in industrial or manufacturing settings
- Strong understanding of project management principles: scheduling, budgeting, scope/change control
- Proven ability to establish accountabilities, maintain clear communication, and manage cross-functional teams
- Experience with make/buy decisions, external vendor coordination, and logistics for industrial equipment
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, Microsoft Excel, and project tracking tools
