We’re searching for a Product Manager, Commercial Programs. Are you searching for new possibilities?
Westland Insurance Group is growing and has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager, Commercial Programs to join our Underwriting team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of commercial insurance who enjoys bringing together business needs, insurance expertise, market insights, and stakeholder perspectives to help shape differentiated insurance programs and products.

This is a hybrid position based out of our Surrey, BC head office; however, we are open to considering candidates based outside of our current office locations.
Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 based on a 35-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

As a Product Manager, Commercial Programs, you’ll help shape commercial insurance products by bringing together business needs, insurance expertise, and market insights to create practical, sustainable solutions. You’ll have a strong understanding of commercial coverages, policy wordings, underwriting, and pricing, and enough technical aptitude to collaborate with systems teams, ask the right questions, and contribute to solutioning.

Why we’ll love You:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, with 3+ years of experience in commercial insurance, product development, underwriting, or a related area
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, including coverages, policy wordings, underwriting considerations, and pricing fundamentals
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand business needs and translate complex requirements into clear, practical product solutions
- Experience gathering and bringing together stakeholder input, research, and analysis to develop well-structured recommendations and requirements
- Comfortable working with insurance products and programs, including delegated authority arrangements and the broader product lifecycle
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance commercial, operational, underwriting, and customer considerations
- Strong communication and technical aptitude, with the ability to collaborate across business and systems teams, contribute to technical discussions, and manage multiple priorities independently
Once here, you'll:
- Partner with stakeholders across Westland to understand business needs, opportunities, and requirements related to commercial insurance programs and products
- Bring together stakeholder input, commercial insurance expertise, and market research to define practical business requirements and product solutions
- Help shape and enhance commercial insurance products, including coverages, policy wordings, documentation, workflows, and distribution considerations
- Collaborate with teams across Underwriting, Broking, Claims, Pricing, Experience, Marketing, and IT to develop competitive, profitable, and sustainable solutions
- Research competitor offerings, market trends, and emerging opportunities to inform product strategy, enhancements, and future program development
- Partner with technical and systems teams on product implementation, bringing business context and contributing to solution discussions
- Monitor product performance and support launches and enhancements through analysis, testing, training, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication
