Job Description:

Saab, Inc.'s Surveillance U.S. Division is seeking an Electrical Engineering Functional Manager to lead and develop a team of Electrical Engineers. Reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering, this role will partner with functional leaders across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to drive successful program execution and deliver high-quality products within established cost and schedule objectives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and develop the Electrical Engineering team to achieve technical, program, cost, schedule, and business objectives.
  • Develop workforce plans and manage staffing resource allocation, and personnel assignments to meet current and future business needs.
  • Establish performance objectives aligned with business priorities and oversee performance management, career development, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight, ensuring effective execution, innovative solutions, and development of critical engineering capabilities.
  • Establish and manage technical, cost, and schedule objectives, ensuring execution aligns with program commitments and budgets.
  • Lead cost estimating and planning activities for proposals, IR&D, capital, and overhead; ensure accurate and well-documented BOEs and schedules.
  • Manage Electrical Engineering budgets, including overhead, capital investments, software, and engineering tools.
  • Develop department strategies, training plans, and professional development opportunities to maintain and advance technical competencies.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and drive innovation, risk mitigation, process improvements, and continuous technical advancement.
  • Champion quality and operational excellence by maintaining QMS processes, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring adherence to standards and continuous improvement objectives.

Compensation Range: $150,500 - $195,600

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise and recognized technical leadership in Electrical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Altium or equivalent ECAD tool.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Ability to provide strategic direction for projects and programs in area of expertise.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, anticipating change, mitigating risk, and making sound high impact decisions.
  • Experience shaping organizational direction through technical leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across disciplines effectively.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% in support of program and business efforts.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
