Job Description
The Team
SEEK’s Cyber Security team is a multidisciplinary group with deep capability across a broad range of security domains. While there are specialist focus areas within the team, there is also a strong emphasis on developing cross-functional expertise, giving team members the opportunity to broaden their skills and continue growing across multiple security disciplines.
The team is well positioned within the business to execute quickly on the work that matters most. You’ll be empowered to identify risks, influence controls and work closely with others across the organisation to strengthen SEEK’s security posture across both infrastructure and products.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer with strong capability in security detection engineering and incident response. In this role, you’ll help reduce risk across SEEK by contributing to the development and execution of our cyber security strategy, with a focus on identifying threats, improving response capability and strengthening our control environment.
You’ll work across strategic, tactical and operational priorities, helping us respond to current and emerging threats while continuously improving our detection and response programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collecting, processing, analysing and communicating potential threats targeting SEEK and its customers.
- Researching and analysing the threat landscape to help inform strategic, tactical and operational priorities.
- Investigating incidents to determine root cause, attack vectors, exploitation methods and techniques used to bypass controls.
- Participating in and informing internal red and purple teaming activities.
- Supporting SEEK’s threat intelligence and detection engineering programs, including native analytics mapped to MITRE ATT&CK.
- Identifying technology and process gaps that impact cyber security capability, then developing practical recommendations for improvement.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of runbooks, response procedures and security techniques.
- Partnering with development and engineering teams to help ensure security, trust and privacy are considered early in product and platform design.
- Supporting a strong security culture across the organisation and helping prioritise remediation work where it matters most.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a well-rounded security practitioner who brings depth in incident response and detection engineering, while also being comfortable working across adjacent security disciplines.
You’ll likely bring:
- 6+ years of experience in information security, with a strong emphasis on security operations, incident response and detection engineering.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting incident response across cloud environments including AWS, GCP and Azure.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native logs, telemetry and forensic artefacts, with the ability to collect, preserve and analyse evidence across identity, control plane, network and workload data sources.
- Experience investigating cloud-native attack paths including compromised credentials, service accounts, privilege escalation, persistence mechanisms, unauthorised API activity and data exposure.
- Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving capability, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and develop practical solutions.
- Proven experience planning, building, operating and continually improving threat hunting and incident response capabilities.
- The ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritise effectively and work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical groups.
- A collaborative, team-first mindset and a genuine passion for continuous learning.
It would also be great if you bring experience or exposure in areas such as threat hunting, purple teaming, threat intelligence, adversary tactics and techniques analysis, or relevant security and cloud certifications such as GCFA, GCFE, GCIH or GREM.
Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed above, we’d still encourage you to apply if you believe you bring a strong foundation, a unique perspective and the motivation to continue growing.
