Energy Market Data Analyst
Job Description:
Jobholder supports the analysis of energy market data and operational reporting activities by processing, validating, and interpreting large datasets related to electricity markets, renewable energy assets, and market settlements. The role contributes to the preparation of analytical reports, evaluation of market results, and maintenance of analytical tools used for internal decision-making. The position also offers opportunities to participate in the development of optimization algorithms and quantitative models as experience grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Energy Data Processing: Analyze, process and validate energy market datasets and time-series data.
- Analytical Reporting: Prepare recurring and ad hoc analytical reports based on predefined methodologies and internal requirements.
- Settlement Reporting: Prepare settlement reports for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ensuring the accuracy and consistency of calculations and supporting documentation.
- Market Analysis Support: Review energy market analysis reports and support the interpretation of market results by identifying inconsistencies and key observations.
- Data Management & Automation: Maintain data processing workflows and support the development of automated reporting tools.
- Market Monitoring: Collect and organize information related to electricity market developments, market indices and regulatory updates.
- Data Quality Assurance: Perform data quality checks and maintain consistency across multiple data sources.
- Optimization & Quantitative Analytics: Contribute to the development of computational models and optimization algorithms for energy market applications.
- Strategic Decision Support: Provide analytical insights and quantitative assessments to support business and strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Energy engineering, Computer Science, Physics or another quantitative discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in energy markets, energy analytics, data analysis or a related quantitative field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in data analysis software (Excel, Matlab, Python etc.) is required.
- Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of optimization techniques and tools, as well as familiarity with electricity market settlements, would be considered a plus.
