VitalHub Innovations Lab is looking for an experienced Manager – Software Engineering to lead and inspire our software engineering teams in Sri Lanka. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of innovative software solutions, guiding teams toward technical excellence, driving delivery predictability, fostering people development and innovation, and aligning development efforts with our global business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and direction to engineering teams, set measurable goals aligned with business priorities, and ensure adherence to engineering best practices while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Architects, Tech Leads, and Engineers. Oversee resource allocation, capacity planning, performance reviews, time tracking, and productivity reporting. Support career development and succession planning to build future engineering leaders.
  • Guide teams in adopting scalable, secure, and robust solutions. Maintain coding standards, advocate for best practices, DevOps practices, AI-assisted engineering tools, and stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate on design and development, contribute to prototypes, review code, and step in to provide hands-on support when required.
  • Build strong relationships with product managers, engineering leads, and leadership teams. Ensure effective communication of project progress, delivery forecasts, dependencies, and risks.
  • Own delivery outcomes by driving predictable execution, effective sprint planning, risk management, dependency tracking, and timely issue resolution.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviews, and onboarding. Promote research and development (R&D) and engineering working groups.
  • Drive process improvements, promote Agile and DevOps practices, automation, engineering metrics, and data-driven decision-making, and invest in the professional growth of yourself and your team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
  • 7+ years of software development experience, including at least 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams or in people management roles.
  • Strong background in Agile software development and modern engineering practices.
  • Proven experience managing product engineering teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering complex software products with accountability for quality, timelines, and business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing top engineering talent.
  • Hands-on technical expertise with the ability to support teams in solving complex challenges.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering principles.
  • Proven experience in managing mobile development teams is an added advantage.
