Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Product Designer, Growth (Upper Funnel) based in Canada.

As a Lead Product Designer focused on Growth, you will shape the experiences that guide users from first discovery through activation, engagement, and expansion. You’ll own critical growth journeys across acquisition, onboarding, pricing, upgrade flows, and lifecycle touchpoints. This is a hands-on role combining exceptional product design craft with data-informed experimentation and systems thinking. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science to turn behavioral insights into meaningful product improvements. Alongside your individual contribution, you’ll coach and develop a small group of designers while helping establish growth design practices across the organization. The role offers significant influence over how millions of users discover value, build trust, and engage with a collaborative digital product.

Accountabilities

  • Define and deliver user-centered experiences across discovery, activation, onboarding, monetization, pricing, upgrade, and lifecycle journeys, creating scalable patterns across the product.
  • Own design work from early concepts through production, including UX, visual design, interaction design, prototypes, and rapid AI-assisted experimentation.
  • Use behavioral data, funnel metrics, experiment results, and user signals to identify opportunities and inform design decisions.
  • Develop and lead experiments across acquisition, activation, and expansion funnels, partnering closely with Product and Data Science from hypothesis through measurement and read-out.
  • Establish reusable growth patterns within the design system that balance conversion, clarity, usability, and long-term user trust.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are implemented accurately and meet a high standard of quality.
  • Reframe complex growth challenges at the journey and funnel level, helping teams understand where users gain or lose value.
  • Lead workshops and collaborative working sessions around onboarding, pricing, packaging, upgrade experiences, and other growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Research, Product, and Data Science to define success metrics, develop experiment hypotheses, and interpret outcomes.
  • Directly manage and coach approximately one to three designers, including goal setting, regular 1:1s, feedback, performance support, and career development.
  • Balance hands-on design execution with people leadership, remaining deeply involved in product design rather than moving into a purely managerial role.
  • Mentor designers working on growth-related surfaces and raise the team’s capabilities around hierarchy, motivation, friction, funnel thinking, and user trust.
  • Contribute to design critiques, cross-functional collaboration, and the development of growth design practices and standards.
  • Champion the connection between growth quality and overall product quality, advocating for sustainable experiences rather than short-term conversion tactics.
  • Explore AI-assisted tools and rapid prototyping techniques to accelerate ideation, simulate user journeys, test concepts, and stress-test growth experiences.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience, ideally within SaaS, productivity, collaboration, self-serve, or product-led growth environments.
  • Demonstrated ownership of growth, monetization, activation, or conversion-focused design initiatives rather than solely contributing to them.
  • Strong understanding of acquisition, activation, retention, and expansion as interconnected parts of a broader user journey.
  • Experience designing onboarding, sign-up, discovery, activation, upgrade, pricing, or other upper-funnel product experiences.
  • Exceptional product design craft, with strong command of visual hierarchy, interaction design, spacing, motion, clarity, and usability.
  • Proven ability to design within established systems while understanding how decisions affect multiple surfaces, journeys, and user relationships.
  • Strong data instincts, including the ability to interpret behavioral data, funnel metrics, experiment results, and other quantitative signals.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams in fast-moving, experiment-driven environments.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or informally leading other designers, with the ability to raise the quality of work around you.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain design decisions and guide cross-functional stakeholders toward user-centered outcomes.
  • Curiosity and proactive problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify edge cases, anticipate constraints, and move forward when requirements are ambiguous.
  • Empathy for first-time users and a strong understanding of trust, motivation, cognitive load, and the factors influencing user commitment.
  • Experience working in environments where design patterns and growth playbooks are still being established.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools, rapid prototyping, and AI-enabled workflows is highly valued.
  • Experience with pricing architecture, packaging, monetization models, organic acquisition, experimentation frameworks, causal inference, or 0-to-1 growth systems is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in design, product, interaction design, or a related discipline is beneficial.

Benefits

  • Fully remote position available to candidates based in Canada.
  • Estimated Canadian base salary range of CA$158,728 – CA$198,410, with compensation determined by factors such as location, level, knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Opportunity to influence growth experiences used by millions of people worldwide.
  • Hands-on leadership role combining individual design contribution, strategic ownership, and people management.
  • Close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams.
  • Opportunity to shape emerging growth design practices and establish scalable systems and patterns.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted design, prototyping, experimentation, and product development workflows.
  • Inclusive environment with reasonable accommodations available throughout the hiring and employment process.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a product-centered culture focused on collaboration, evidence, design excellence, and meaningful user outcomes.
