Full description

Flowserve is seeking an experienced, high-impact Senior Sales Engineer to drive technical commercial growth, customer specification capture, and aftermarket solutions across our flagship chemical and refining accounts in Greater Houston (including Channelview, La Porte, and Pasadena). Operating with a Quick Response Center (QRC) urgency mindset, you will serve as the lead commercial and technical authority for Flowserve’s industry-leading control valve, actuation, and digital flow technologies.

In this role, you will manage high-value customer partnerships, lead technical sizing and selection for severe-service process challenges (cavitation, noise attenuation, erosion/corrosion), and deliver winning commercial proposals for major capital projects and unit turnarounds. You will work with application engineers and inside sales specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Account Management: Direct commercial sales growth and technical account strategies for Tier-1 petrochemical, refining, and chemical processing facilities across Greater Houston.
  • Severe-Service Valve Engineering: Deliver technical consultation on control valves, severe-service trim solutions, cavitation control, aerodynamic noise mitigation, pneumatic actuation, and digital valve positioners.
  • Proposal & Quotation Development: Review customer inquiries, RFQs, and purchase orders for commercial and technical accuracy; generate persuasive technical quotations using Flowserve sizing tools (Performance!) to win high-margin orders.
  • Turnaround & Fast-Track Execution: Partner with plant reliability, maintenance, and unit turnaround teams to capture outage valve repairs, fast-track replacements, and retrofits through our Pasadena Quick Response Center (QRC).
  • Customer Alignment & Advocacy: Establish trusted advisor relationships with plant instrumentation engineers, piping designers, maintenance leaders, and procurement managers.
  • Technical Mentorship: Provide instruction, technical coaching, and sizing guidance to junior sales engineers and internal application engineers.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 5–8+ years of technical sales, application engineering, or business development experience within industrial flow control, specifically centered on control valves, severe-service valves, or valve automation/actuation systems.
  • Market Familiarity: Established commercial relationships and hands-on site experience across Houston Ship Channel industrial corridors (Pasadena, Channelview, La Porte, Baytown, Freeport).
  • Technical Acumen: Deep working knowledge of fluid dynamics, severe-service trim selection, materials science, metallurgy, and process instrumentation.
  • Product Sizing Tools: Proficiency utilizing valve sizing and selection software (Performance!, Fisher First In Math, or equivalent sizing engines).
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline (equivalent intensive technical flow control experience evaluated in lieu of degree).
