Mō te tūranga | About the Role

The Liquidity and Data squad delivers critical data platforms that underpin Westpac’s Finance, Treasury, Risk and Regulatory Reporting functions. As a Technical Systems Analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and platform teams to deliver enterprise data solutions. You will help translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions, support critical data platforms, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality data products and services.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into technical and data solutions.
  • Support the delivery of data pipelines, integrations, reporting, and enterprise data services.
  • Work with engineers and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery outcomes and alignment across teams.
  • Support testing, data validation, reconciliation, and data quality activities.
  • Investigate and resolve data and system issues, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call roster supporting critical production platforms and services.

Experience working as a Technical Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or similar role within data, analytics, or engineering-focused environments.

  • Strong understanding of data concepts including data modelling, data flows, integrations, and data quality.
  • Hands-on experience working with enterprise data platforms, data pipelines, and large datasets.
  • Experience using SQL, Python, Spark, or similar technologies for analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to translate business or regulatory requirements into technical and data solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery teams with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business audiences.
  • Experience supporting testing activities including UAT, data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Power BI, Visio/Lucidchart, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Exposure to enterprise data platforms such as Hadoop, Snowflake, Oracle, AWS, Azure, or similar environments.
  • Banking, Finance, Treasury, Risk, Regulatory Reporting, or Financial Services experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and regulatory compliance frameworks is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
