QA Senior Automation Tester

Location: Hybrid - Anywhere in Canada, Kingston, York Mills

The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $92,960-$142,960. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.

Empire Life is looking to hire a QA Senior Automation Tester to join our IT Quality Assurance Team team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current, open position. The QA Automation Tester III is a senior software developer, focused on the creation of test automation suites for web-based applications, APIs and other various applications.

What you’ll be working on

  • Software development (“coding”) of high quality test automation scripts
  • Contribute to automated testing with functional, behavioural and integration testing with flexibility to test manually
  • Proactively work with internal development, network and security teams to ensure robustness and effectiveness of test suites created
  • Troubleshoot problems and ensure resolution of issues impeding effective test coverage or execution
  • Research and investigate improvements; analyze and provide findings and recommendations to management
  • Test automation framework maintenance
  • CI/CD pipeline test configurations
  • Training and onboarding junior team members
  • Setting up new initiatives in an existing test automation framework

What we’re looking for you to have

  • 5+ years work experience in test automation/software development within the banking, insurance industries or equivalent
  • 5+ experience with Selenium/Playwright based test automation frameworks
  • 5+ years experience with an Agile Development Environment
  • 5+ years experience with API – REST test automation
  • 3+ years experience with Mobile automation/Appium
  • Experience with CI (GitHub Actions preferable) and version control systems (Git preferable)
  • 5+ years experience with React JavaScript Library
  • 3+ years experience maintaining an existing test automation framework
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member as required
  • Ability to report all defects effectively and accurately
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers and leadership
  • Flexibility to adapt in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Experience with designing Integration, System, User Acceptance tests
  • Completion of a University degree, college diploma, technical training, and/or equivalent experience
  • Extended Availability: Requirement for occasional overtime or after-hours support as dictated by business needs.
  • Virtual Collaboration: Regular participation in video and audio conferencing, requiring a professional and quiet environment suitable for business discussions.
  • Information Security: Mandatory adherence to company privacy and security protocols while working in both remote and corporate office settings.
  • Travel: Periodic, infrequent travel may be required to attend meetings at a regional office or for professional development.
