About the role

We’re looking for a Product Designer who knows how to design products, not just screens.

You’ll work on complex financial products across consumer, business, and infrastructure experiences. You should be comfortable taking a problem from an early requirement or rough idea through research, flows, interaction design, polished UI, developer handoff, and ultimately a shipped product.

We care about craft, but great-looking interfaces alone aren’t enough. We’re looking for someone who understands how products work, can make strong decisions, collaborate closely with product and engineering, and demonstrate the impact of what they’ve shipped.

What you'll do

  • Own product design work from problem definition to production.
  • Translate product requirements and business goals into clear user flows and product experiences.
  • Question requirements when necessary and identify gaps, edge cases, technical constraints, and opportunities before jumping into UI.
  • Design complex workflows across mobile and web products.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, interaction models, and high-fidelity interfaces.
  • Think deeply about states beyond the happy path, including loading, empty, error, permission, validation, edge cases, and failure scenarios.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout implementation rather than treating handoff as the end of the design process.
  • Participate in design QA and ensure what ships meets the intended experience and quality.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system.
  • Use data, research, customer feedback, and product metrics to evaluate design decisions.
  • Document important design decisions, behaviours, interactions, and implementation requirements.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, exploration, prototyping, documentation, and execution where appropriate.
  • Take ownership of outcomes and continuously improve products after launch.

Qualifications

Product Thinking

You can look beyond individual screens and understand the complete system.

You should be able to explain:

  • What problem you were solving.
  • Why the problem mattered.
  • How you arrived at your solution.
  • What alternatives you considered.
  • What constraints influenced the design.
  • What you personally owned.
  • What eventually shipped.
  • What happened after it shipped.

Proven Shipping Experience

Your portfolio should contain real products that reached users, not only concepts, redesign exercises, or visual explorations.

We want to see evidence of ownership across the product lifecycle and, where possible, measurable outcomes such as:

  • Conversion improvements
  • Increased activation or adoption
  • Reduced drop-off
  • Increased transaction success
  • Reduced support requests
  • Improved operational efficiency
  • Increased engagement or retention

Not every project needs a dramatic metric, but you should understand what success looked like and how your work contributed to it.

Strong Interaction & Systems Thinking

You should be comfortable designing products with complexity.

That includes:

  • Multi-step workflows
  • Data-heavy interfaces
  • Permissions and roles
  • Tables and filtering
  • Financial transactions
  • Forms and validation
  • Account states
  • Error and recovery flows
  • Responsive behaviour
  • Design systems and reusable components

Strong Visual Craft

Product thinking does not excuse weak execution.

You should have strong fundamentals in hierarchy, typography, spacing, layout, information architecture, interaction design, and visual consistency.

We expect work that is both functional and exceptionally well crafted.

Technical Awareness

You don't need to be an engineer, but you should understand how software gets built.

You should be comfortable discussing implementation with engineers, understanding technical constraints, adapting designs where necessary, and following your work through production.

Experience with prototyping or front-end technologies is a plus.

AI-Native Workflow

We expect designers to be comfortable using modern AI tools as part of their workflow.

This could include using AI for:

  • Product and competitive research
  • Exploring solutions
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Analysing requirements
  • Documentation
  • Generating or testing interface ideas
  • Working with code
  • Improving the speed and quality of execution

We're less interested in which specific tools you use and more interested in how effectively you use them to produce better work.

What We Don't Want

This role probably isn't a good fit if your portfolio is primarily:

  • Beautiful screens without evidence they shipped.
  • Dribbble-style concepts with little product depth.
  • Case studies where your individual contribution is unclear.
  • Happy-path designs without edge cases or system thinking.
  • Work where the process ends at Figma handoff.
  • Projects where you cannot explain the business or user outcome.

What Strong Candidates Will Demonstrate

The strongest candidates will be able to show us:

Problem → Thinking → Decisions → Design → Build → Ship → Measure

You should be able to walk us through that chain clearly and explain what you personally contributed at every stage.

Experience

We're more interested in the quality and depth of your experience than a specific number of years.

You should have professional experience designing and shipping digital products. Experience in fintech, payments, banking, B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or other complex product environments is a strong advantage.

Tools

You should be highly proficient with Figma and comfortable adopting whatever tools help you work faster and produce better outcomes.

Experience with prototyping, AI-assisted workflows, developer tools, or code is a plus.

How We'll Evaluate You

We'll primarily evaluate candidates on:

  • Shipped product experience: Have you actually taken meaningful products to production?
  • Product thinking: Can you understand and solve the underlying problem rather than simply execute requirements?
  • Ownership: Can you independently drive work forward?
  • Interaction design: Can you handle complex flows, states, and behaviours?
  • Visual craft: Is the final execution genuinely strong?
  • Collaboration: Can you work effectively with Product and Engineering?
  • Impact: Can you connect your work to user or business outcomes?
  • AI leverage: Can you use modern tools intelligently to improve your speed and output?

Ultimately, we're looking for a designer who can be given a difficult product problem and be trusted to figure it out, design it well, work with the team to ship it, and care about whether it actually worked.
