Modernising Defence Air Traffic Systems
To support our mission, Raytheon Australia is currently seeking a motivated Engineering Manager who is ready to lead a diverse, talented, and enthusiastic team of engineering professionals within our Australian Defence Air Traffic System (ADATS) Capability Assurance Program.
This critical program involves modernising air traffic management systems across multiple RAAF sites, ensuring continued operational excellence of Australia's Military Air Traffic Control (MATC) capabilities. As the original installer and current maintainer of the ADATS system, Raytheon Australia continues to provide engineering, support, and maintenance services, including the integration of modern capabilities to support defence operations. Reporting to the ADATS Program Manager and functionally supported by the company engineering department you will be responsible for engineering safety, system integrity, technical governance, and resource allocation.
As a senior program leader, you will be member of the Program Leadership Team providing advice and recommendations for strategy, execution and growth. Join us as we enhance the future of air traffic control.
Key Responsibilities
- Definition, deployment and enforcement of engineering processes, including their integration within the program and broader Raytheon Management System (RMS);
- Support development of engineering estimates, basis of estimates, work breakdown structures and schedules;
- Liaison with departmental leaders and other program staff to ensure all systems / sub-systems are appropriately monitored and supported, with necessary changes defined and/or developed to meet user requirements;
- Manage the conduct of Engineering and Technical analysis for desired reliability, maintainability, availability, safety, and cost-effectiveness outcomes including the conduct of in-depth investigations and providing recommendations for actions.
- Development and implementation of engineering changes according to company and program procedures;
- Leadership of technical reviews and audits within the Program as well as planning, estimating, resourcing and scheduling of engineering tasks;
- Liaison with the Commonwealth Representative on project engineering issues, design process, engineering development and life-cycle support; and timely notification to the Commonwealth of all defects and design deficiencies as they become apparent.
- Establishing, managing and reporting engineering metrics and key performance indicators.
- Provision and planning of engineering resources, necessary to meet the company’s technical obligations.
- Managing operations, phasing, and tasking in support of the project schedule.
- Defining, establishing, and controlling the engineering methodology, tools, and procedures required to complete the engineering tasks assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering (with a significant component of Electrical or Communications Engineering).
- Postgraduate degree in related field desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of the design, manufacture, support of Air Traffic Systems.
- Experience developing recommendations and implementing new products, processes, policies, standards, or operating plans.
- Experience in Engineering and project-engineering management.
- Experience in leading a diverse range of technical disciplines and staff.
- Solid understanding of applicable contract and legislated requirements and the suitable application of technical specifications and standards.
