Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and evolution of the network and supporting systems supporting the global network infrastructure for the customer.
Responsibilities:
- You will be required to be informed of new technical developments and trends in the industry.
- You will also make recommendations to management on desirable network solutions and opportunities.
- You will be required to research, evaluate and document new products and tools.
- Your role continually plans for the expansion of networks.
- You will regularly interact with vendors for the purposes of investigating new equipment and services.
- You serve as a troubleshooter on complex network problems on all Tier 2 and incident tickets of all priorities.
- You will act as a high-level escalation point for Network Administrators.
- You will perform complex engineering, security design, implementation and maintenance tasks on Unified Communications Systems.
- You will research, evaluate and approve hardware and software solutions for complex problems and solutions.
- Additionally, you will be expected to develop, review and execute complex implementation plans for network/system upgrades.
- You will also design and document new network elements and provide guidance to junior staff members.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The following are the education and experience required for this position:
- 6+ years of experience
- Bachelor's in IT or related field
- CCNP Certification
- Secret Security Clearance

- Cisco CCNP Collaboration with a focus on Design and Planning
