As an organization, we deliver for our customers by living our values. We operate from a place of humility, take ownership of problems and successes, approach challenges with a growth mindset, and put our customers at the center of everything we do.

About the role

Amplitude helps companies understand how people use their digital products, and act on what they learn. As a Senior Sales Engineer based in Singapore, you'll be the technical lead in our sales conversations across Singapore and the Rest of Asia region.

You'll partner with Account Executives to win new customers and grow existing ones. Day to day, that means running discovery with product, data and engineering teams, building demos that show Amplitude working in a customer's world, and explaining to technical buyers how it fits into their stack and what it will be worth to them.

This is a hands-on role. More and more of our customer conversations are about how Amplitude connects to a data warehouse, how it fits into the way engineering teams build and ship software, and how teams run A/B tests and feature flags. We're looking for someone who has worked with this kind of technology directly, not just alongside it, and who is as comfortable leading a customer meeting as they are working through a technical problem.

What you'll do

  • Run technical and business discovery. Understand a prospect's goals, data, tech stack and decision criteria, and shape the solution around them.
  • Build and deliver demos, presentations and prototypes tailored to each customer, for audiences from engineers to executives.
  • Lead proofs of concept hands-on, working with the customer's engineers and data teams to get Amplitude running on their own data and use cases.
  • Explain Amplitude's value to technical buyers and executives: architecture, data flows, warehouse integration, experimentation, and where it sits in a modern data stack.
  • Stay involved as customers implement. Keep the plan on track, keep technical stakeholders aligned, and make sure what we proposed gets delivered.
  • Be proactive. Follow up quickly, build relationships across the customer's technical team, and keep deals moving without waiting to be asked.
  • Act as the voice of the market inside Amplitude: bring customer feedback and requirements back to Product, and help AEs, Customer Success and newer teammates with the technical side.
  • Travel within the region to meet customers when needed.

What you'll bring

  • 6-8+ years of Senior-level experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, solutions architecture or technical consulting.
  • Hands-on technical and data skills. You can build a sample app for a demo, instrument SDKs and feature flags, and troubleshoot customer questions.
  • Hands-on technical experience with two or more of the following:
  • Experimentation: designing and running A/B tests, feature flags and controlled rollouts.
  • Software development lifecycle: how engineering teams plan, build, test and release software, and where analytics, gates and experimentation fit in.
  • Data warehousing: working with cloud data warehouses, including connecting, modelling and activating data. Experience at a data warehouse or data platform company is especially relevant.
  • Modern data stack architecture: designing how collection, storage, transformation and analytics tools fit together.
  • AI: harnesses, evals, governance
  • Strong demo building. You create demos and presentations that make a product real for a specific audience.
  • Solid discovery skills. You ask the questions that uncover what a customer needs and how they'll make their decision.
  • The ability to explain value clearly to technical buyers, from engineering and data leaders to the business stakeholders they work with.
  • You're based in Singapore and comfortable covering customers across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan.

Nice to have

  • A background in developer tooling.
  • Implementation, post-sales or consulting experience where you owned multi-month customer projects and managed technical stakeholders.
  • A second language used across the region.
